In previous Alliance Tournies there has been a limit of alliance that can join based on their age(the alliance had to be around for six months or something like that) to prevent the formation of alliance just to join the tournament. However this year I see no reference to a limit on the alliance age itself just a limit on how long a character has been in the alliance. Is this rule still there just was not mentioned or does the alliance's age not matter this year?

Going by the current rules the alliance age has no bearing on who can join. Unless it was made after the character join date restriction. I don't see why it would be necessary anyways with the 64 teams and the random draw.

As long as your alliance is old enough to have characters that meet the membership deadline you're good to go.
