Pre-Downtime Notification

One hour before downtime, and then 30/15/5 minutes before, there is a popup message to tell the players that the server is coming down. This is all well and good, but it completely shuts down your User Interface until you click the OK button.

Can we change this? I haven't lost anything yet, but I'm waiting for the day one of my ships explodes because I can't click on anything due to this popup window.

Can this be changed so that the window still shows up, but doesn't shut down your overview.

Just NO. Because you would then complain about not being able to read the message in the heat of the battle (or mining op Bear). And CCP should reimburse your losses.

Also: Features & Ideas Discussion is this way.

agreed, it's rather annoying.
in fact, can we just disable the notifications all together? the 5 min countdown that doesn't lock the ui is more than sufficient to be honest.

60 minute unintrusive downtime countdown timer. Gets highlighted yellow blinking for a few seconds at 60 minutes, orange at 30 minutes and red at 15 minutes, stays red at 5 minutes, blinks at every minute and at each of the last 10 seconds with increasing urgency.

Why not simply do it this way.
It's the tutorial notification, it stays there until you proceed with the tutorial or as you can see you can also click it off.
Use it for shutdown notifications as well.

Doesn't interfere with anything if it suddenly pops up while you are doing stuff, and CCP doesn't have to invent anything new.

That works.

As does any number of other notification message boxes that EVE already uses, none of which lock your UI... except the downtime notification one.

This has been ask of CCP over and over and over... They always say "yeah great idea!" then we get something we didn't ask for in the next patch/expansion.

I think it's handy, but adding an optional check box could solve that.

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

This is also a valid option. Just ANYTHING to stop it from locking my UI.

Why not put it in the corner with the combat/aggression timers and give it its own countdown icon?

I agree.

Let there be a opaque timer countdown somewhere on the screen, that doesn't lock up your interface, visible, but not debilitating.

Why not just the text at the top-center of the screen (if you haven't changed the default layout) just like the minus 5 min countdown? They are already using it at shutdown, so why have a window that needs to be closed at all. Just do them all that way.
