Mission Mining and Opportunist Corps

I recently crossed paths with Pro Synergy who do a great job picking up salvage after I clear a mission and I was starting to wonder if there's a corp out there who frequents High Sec and picks up mission bookmarks for the occasional rock spawn.

it's not often much, nor anything interesting but I figure it can't hurt to see what offerings are on the board considering it's free rock semi on-demand.

Those who mine don't understand the value of their time, or of how easy it is to warp to a belt and blow up miners. Or bump them out of range.

If you are a heavy missioning corp, it might be better to simply recruit some miners, with the understanding that when you receive a mission with sufficient ore in it, you invite the mining squad in to clear it out when done. An orca and a few barges can clear out just about any mission area in an hour, well within most level iv bonus times (though you can turn a mission in and the rocks stay as long as someone is still in the pocket).

A small corp should be able to have a pretty smooth setup with missioners, salvagers, and miners, working together to maximize the PvE returns available. Throw in the fact that if they are in the same gang, you can spread the standing and LP across to them and really help boost your corp's noobs.

Now, as a miner with my own small team, I know I'm not going to bother risking taking someone elses bookmarks and nullify the key benefit of mission rocks (the somewhat hidden nature of them).

The problem with the asteroids in mission areas is I'm pretty sure that they go when you turn in the mission.

So you'd have to leave the mission open which if you've only got 1 agent you use in system then your mission then you have to stop until the roids have been mined.

I just confirmed that a mining ship can continue to mine a mission area after the mission has been completed. At least with the career agent missions.

these mission mining pockets would be a great place to put ice

I stand corrected :)

Have you tried bookmarking a rock, docking and turning the mission in and then warping back to the bookmark? or does someone have to stay there al the time?

Mission spaces ("dungeons") will despawn when the mission is handed in to the agent and all players have left the "dungeon".

If you want to mine in mission space, just get your miners to the dungeon before the mission runner hands in the mission: even a scout in a shuttle will do. For multi-room dungeons, make sure that you have someone on grid in the next room before the next person uses the acceleration gate, otherwise you will have a fleet using an acceleration gate and landing in empty space: when you are warping between rooms you will temporarily be "outside" the dungeon and thus it is free to despawn.

If you jetcan mine, the cans will remain in space after the dungeon has despawned, with the usual rules of can lifetime being 2 hours. Thus you can jetcan, bookmark the cans, finish mining, return to station to pick up your hauler, then warp directly to the cans which will be sitting in empty space since the dungeon will have despawned.

And for those who are interested, the better missions to mine are:

  • Level 1 Fair Play, More Bark (2 of 5) for 1M Rich Plagioclase, 1.7M Pyroxeres, 950k Concentrated Veldspar, 2.3M Veldspar
  • Level 1-3 Break Their Will for 1.4M Scordite, 2.8M Veldspar
  • Level 4 Duo of Death for 1.4M Scordite
  • Level 4 In the Midst Of Deadspace, 1 and 2, for 2M Scordite, 1.4M Veldspar
  • Level 1 Lost That Bet (5 of 5), for 1M Scordite and1M Veldspar
  • Level 4 The Score (Sanshas Nation), for 1.3M Pyroxeres

Note that Midst of Deadspace and Lost That Bet have ore spread through multiple rooms, while Duo of Death and The Score have ore on the other side of the first acceleration gate, while Break Their Will is a single room with all the ore in a big ring around the target that you are supposed to blow up (scordite is in a 50km radius clump around the middle, veldspar is in two perpendicular 60km diameter rings).

The asteroids in "The Blockade" are booby trapped, you have been warned.

There are other missions with ore available, but they're barely worth the effort considering the acceleration gates, distribution of ore (in some cases 60km off the gate)

And finally: before you get all excited and head out into the wilds to farm these missions for valuable ores, remember that each mission agent will have a stock of about 25 missions which you will need to run over and over again to get the one that you're interested in. Break Their Will appears to be only offered when you have low standings with that agent.
