Launcher won't launch the game.

The launcher (v2.1.539169) wont launch the game.


I can log in, but the "play" button is greyed out.

At the bottom of the launcher it says "downloading launcher update" but nothing happens.

My firewall is off. I have an internet connection. I have tried the repair. I downloaded the launcher from the Eve website and re-installed it.

Any ideas?



Edit:
Solved: I ran the game with Exefile.exe and then updated via the link in the News pane. The Launcher works now.

Can you try running the launcher as administrator? The launcher version you are running may have issues with windows permissions when it comes to updating itself. It should have asked for an elevation automatically, but just in case it didn't, please try manually starting it with elevated permissions (e.g right-click on the short-cut or executable and choose "Run as Administrator").

The repair tool won't repair the launcher. Can you provide me with some log files from the launcher\cache folder? If you don't want to pastebin them you can create a defect at https://bugs.eveonline.com/ and tell me the defect ID.

The files which are named like "launcher.30.05.2013.log". Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience! :-)

As previously mentioned, please attach them to a defect that you can create at https://bugs.eveonline.com so that we can keep track of this. :-)

Thanks for the report! It seems that the self-update module we are using is relying on a function that produces inconsistent results.

Yes, a manual update will resolve it, however, you are likely to experience this issue again when we roll out a fix for this problem.
