you'll need an Orca or a Rorqual for mining boosts. You'll need to be in a corp /alliance that has mining ops otherwise you'll be stuck trying to work with people in local you don't know, and these situations almost never end well. With a rorqual in low/null/wh you'll only be doing boosting for corp/alliance members for obvious reasons.

You can also look into training for ganklinks that offer boosting to pve/pvp ops in your corp/alliance but you wont be making anything doing this. Mainly its only beneficial if you sit in a POS AFK and let corp mates join your fleet, or if your alt flys around with you and sits off grid.

Finally the amount you will make per hour will very, but generally the booster and hauler gets a share of the mining yield, basically the same amount as if you were mining.

So you just blindly did this because you wanted to be helpful at something you've never done?

Note that you don't need an Orca to fit mining links. A battlecruiser works just fine.

it works, but unless i'm missing something... none of them have bonuses to mining links.

The Orca gets a small bonus to mining foreman links. But other basic battlecruisers (like a Drake) can use 1 command link at a time, and a command ship can fit 5 or more (3 for the basic ship and 1 extra per command processor).

Since you're pretty much asking how an Orca is used in mining fleets, there are 2 options: sit in the belt with the mining ships and transfer what they mine into the orca to haul off to a station (this is "on grid boosting"); or sit inside a POS shield (alternatively, sit just outside a station in docking range) and have the links running for the fleet (this is "off grid boosting" or OGB and is supposed to be nerfed in the not-too-distant future). In the latter option, mining ships will be responsible for hauling their own ore to the station/POS (or you have someone in the fleet flying an industrial ship and hauling it for the miners).

About the only mining gang links that are useful for mining are the laser optimization (shorter cycle time) and laser field enhancement (longer range). You'll want a shield harmonizing link to boost the shield resistances for the fleet.

So if you had a low skilled mining corp, you could have a bunch of folks in mining barges and someone acting as booster/combat in a Drake with a laser optimization gang link running.

When you look at the "can fit ship group" section on this example link,, you see a bunch of "group id". 941 is the group that Orcas belong to. 419 are standard battlecruisers. Other groups include rorquals, carriers, command ships, super carriers and titans.

this is a genious way to get people to join your fleet in a mining ship so you can shoot them Pirate

Not sure what you mean by this. You cannot legally awox another fleet member in high sec without Concord intervening and exploding your ship unless they are also a member of your corp. I suppose he could be trawling for gank targets but even that would be pointless. All you have to do to find a gank target in high sec is warp to an ice belt. Maybe he does just want some company and to provide a boost?

My mistake. I thought you could shoot fleet members regardless of corp. I don't have much high sec experience tbh Oops
