Dec shield - possible solution.

This is how it works am I right? Corporation A declares war on corporation B. Then corporation B joins an alliance C, making cost of war exorbitant for corporation A.

Point is, not only the system is flawed in a sense corporation B gets away, alliance C gets a free war too, am I right?

That's where the change would kick in. When corporation B enters an alliance, because an alliance makes hostile act towards corporation A, they automatically wardec corporation A. Corporation A therefore pays only for waging war on corporation B, corporation B pays nothing, and alliance C pays for wardec on corporation A.

Problem solved.

um, what?

Corporation A decs B, they're out 2m ISK
Corporation B joins Alliance C ... Corporation A's war is extended to Alliance C (IIRC, no cost)

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Well if it's so, that means only I'm not informed well.

Then ignore the thread.

wouldn't it be simpler if war was automatically made mutual if corporation joins an alliance in the middle of a war? After all the alliance clearly wants in on this war since they accept a corp with war on...

i thought a dec shield was to get neutral alt corps to wardec you increasing the cost of renewal from your wartargets.

OP does not understand what a dec shield is and the solution he proposes is deeply flawed.

Might as well lock this thread.

Don't lock it as I read about it now.

Two millions to wardec a corp, fifty for alliance. Instead make cost scale with number of corporations in alliance in nonlinear manner, less than ISK*corp number=price, so that there are diminishing returns (wardec to 20 corporation alliance costs less than 20*wardec on a single corp, but still scales up as number of corporations increase).

Math isn't my strength though, so somebody else should sort it out. Current system don't make much sense.

Two corp alliance don't leverage the same influence as twenty corp one, so wardec price must be adjusted. Dec shield will be gone too, I hope. But other systems can be used too, if this becomes a problem due to large alliances, such as reducing cost of wardec from a bigger alliance, but no less than some fixed amount equal or greater than price of wardec to a single corp or alliance. Big alliance leverages more power in world of eve, and that can maybe explained by reducing amount of ISK needed for war. Maybe not too.
