Raven: Railguns on Top of Missiles?

Would it work with, persay, an Incursion fleet to attach two railguns on top of my missiles to get extra DPS? Yes, it would involve carrying around more ammo and costing more cargo and I have to press more buttons, but would it be worth it?

When Bon Scott died and he appeared before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter looked at his record and told him he couldn't get in. Just then, God screams at Peter, "Let him in, Karen Carpenter is driving me nuts. I want to hear some music with balls. We'll haggle over the paperwork later." At least I hope that's what happened.

Incursions are all about fast kills, High DPS.
Most Incursion fleets want more 'bling' than just a T1 Raven will bring. And they want Gunships for instant damage.

Aside from that, group your weapons and it's only on more click. (Or 6 less clicks if you're not grouped)

I'm aware of weapon grouping.

Nothing wrong with using those extra slots. I've seen a few navythron and TFI pilots put torp launchers in the spare highs.

maybe he's part of an incursion corp/alliance that approved it

but yes, attempting to join a public fleet won't happen in a missile ship if the FC has a gunboat to pick up instead.

You should rather use unbonused "free" highs for cap and shield/armor RR.. you never know when a logi is going to DC.

not sure about laven but for a good while laser rokh and projectile rokh were very viable alternate fits.

If you did not care about the lost range bonus, you got what could be better guns in the exchange (more speciific damage selection, capless guns with projectiles and the wtf factor as your target is wondering why he is taking RF emp damage from a hybrid boat).


Rest of this....if you can use guns op why not jsut roll a rokh. For even more damage maybe x-train gallente boats (if you have the guns already its just ships and maybe tweak some armour skills if lacking). Case of rokh and looking at fleets its getting more real damage on targett with instant hit. 10+ bs on a target primary, its dying fast. Probably faster than you can get a decent amount of missiles on it.

Show me the Raven fit with full missiles and two rails on it and I'll lol at how it also has at least 2 ACR rigs or Reactor Controls.

That build, mind you, is theoretically pretty viable.

As for the topic at hand, I don't think I'd bother with railguns on a raven, or at least not large railguns. Medium railguns to help with smaller stuff as it closes in maybe, but not large railguns. I'd probably also go for large ACs over medium railguns for taking out small stuff that's getting close to you.

How is it tearing itself apart because it has some standards.

The standards are in place because there is competition.

Competition is generally a good thing

I love the tears of other fleets that run for an hour without winning any sites, spending ISK on faction ammo to "help" us finish the site faster (or maybe they don't spend the ISK for the 15% more DPS, which helps explain their losses)
