ok, i've heard 20 different stories......i want to know if someone can tell me exactly what is going on with this new racial skill point thing.

IF we have our clone upgraded to take all the SP, then we will have the SP automatically put towards those skills

IF we do not, then all SP that cannot be covered by the clone grade will then be put in the unallocated SP pool?

is this right, can someone please confirm this please

Nah the SP is just getting added on. Just upgrade your clone after the downtime and you'll be good.

Your clone only means anything when you die. It does not restrict skill training.

The SP is specifically for those skills an none others. There isn't any scenario where it turns into unallocated SP.

It will be applied the same regardless of your clone grade. Plan accordingly on your own.

It took less that 30 seconds for me to find that. It's not hard.

All skills will be reset to zero and the SP and skillbooks will be refunded. You will also be given the option of changing your name, resculpting your character and deleting your corp history.

That's just one of the 20 stories he's heard.

Then he's confused about the definition of the word "truth".

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

During downtime, your battlecruiser and destroyer skills will be removed. You will also gain corresponding racial ship skills depending on your existing racial skills of the tier below. To put that into action:

Where N is the current level of your Destroyers skill:
If you have level 3 or higher in Caldari Frigates, you will receive level N in Caldari Destroyers.
If you have level 3 or higher in Gallente Frigates, you will receive level N in Gallente Destroyers.
If you have level 3 or higher in Amarr Frigates, you will receive level N in Amarr Destroyers.
If you have level 3 or higher in Minmatar Frigates, you will receive level N in Minmatar Destroyers.

Where M is the current level of your Battlecruisers skill:
If you have level 3 or higher in Caldari Cruisers, you will receive level M in Caldari Battlecruisers .
If you have level 3 or higher in Gallente Cruisers, you will receive level M in Gallente Battlecruisers .
If you have level 3 or higher in Amarr Cruisers, you will receive level M in Amarr Battlecruisers .
If you have level 3 or higher in Minmatar Cruisers, you will receive level M in Minmatar Battlecruisers .

There is a good chance (depending on your skills) that this will result in your new skill point total being higher than your existing one: Potentially around 6 million higher if you're a useless prick like me who has 5 in every frigate, destroyer, cruiser and battlecruiser ship command skill. In the event that this happens, your character will not blow up, but there is a chance that you will have more skill points than your current clone can support. In that case, update your clone: If you do not, the next time you get podded, you stand to lose some of your skills.

If for some reason you do not have ANY racial frigate or cruiser skills above level 2, your Destroyer and/or Battlecruiser skill will simply have its points refunded. Note: I'm not even sure if this can practically happen.

TL:DR: TO MAXIMIZE YOUR BENEFIT, GET ALL RACIAL FRIGATE AND CRUISER SKILLS TO LEVEL 3, GET DESTROYERS AND BATTLECRUISERS TO LEVEL 5, AND MAKE SURE YOU'VE GOT ENOUGH ROOM ON YOUR CLONE FOR AROUND 7 MILLION EXTRA SKILL POINTS.

TL;DR, if you have racial frigate/cruiser skill at 3 and destroyer/battlecruiser skill at any number between 0 and 5, you will get your racial battlecruiser/destroyer skill at said number, as long as you have cruiser/frigate skill at 3 of the same race.

straight up example is: john has lvl3 matari frigate and lvl1 gallente frigate, but has destroyer at lvl5. he will recieve matari destoyer at lvl5, but he won't recieve gallente destroyer at all.

same applies to battlecruiser.

You do know that the pre-required skill for racial cruiser is level 4 in racial frigate?

If we're being honest, it's been a very long time since I've had to train up frigate piloting skills. I'd long since forgotten the progression requirement.

Prepare to get ~6 millions SP if you have cruisers + frigs of all races + destroyers and battlecruisers to 5.

There is, but it's a very unlikely edge-case.

It could happen. Destroyers and Battlecruisers only require Spaceship Command, so it's entirely possible to train those skills without the racial frigate/cruiser you'd also need to pilot the ship. The Destroyers without any frigate 3 is less likely to occur, but AFAIK new characters now start with Frigate 2, so it's still possible.

I created a new Toon a month or so ago, immediately trained, all racial Frigs 4, Destroyers 5, Mini cruiser 4, BC 5 and spaceship command 4. So now I am sitting here trying to decide if I should train all the cruiser to 3 (It will only take 18 hours for all 3) or just take the 4.5 mil SP allocation.

Decisions, decisions, decisions

Things that keep me up at night;  Why do we use a voice communication device to send telegraphs? Moore's Law should state, Once you have paid off the last PC upgrade you will need another.

i'd train the cruisers, personally.
