Hello!

What are the tactics to travel in lowsec and perhaps even penetrate pirate camps without being blown up?

- Make bookmarks 200-300 km off of gates at odd alignments so you can "scout" camps
- Never warp between 2 gates or a gate an station directly. Always come and go from a non-aligned safe spot or a celestial.
- Have a buddy or alt scout ahead
- be cloaky or fast or both

- When you do get tackled, exploded and podded keep a smile on your face and don't rage in local.

Stay calm. Observe the situation before acting.

Learn to use the ingame map or Dotlan to look for PVP activity and pilots in space.

You did see that this is about low, not null?

In low, MWD + cloak is the key. Good camps might still get you, but you can see those on the star map.

Totally agree on the last point though.

Never hurts to learn early, then you can fly anywhere...

The only time in Lowsec when you're particularly vulnerable is when jumping through a gate. Warping to a gate, you should be fine because there's no bubbles to stop you landing at 0.

Cloak + MWD will get you through most camps, or let you jump back through. If you can, investing in a Covert Ops Cloak using ship will make almost untouchable except when there is an organised group camping with a dedicated uncloaking interceptor.

Works with any ship supporting cpu/pg for :

High slot : 1 Cloak
Med Slots : 1 MWD + as many Shield Extenders as you can
Low slots : 1 DCU (optional) + As many Warp Core Stabilizers as you can

You can't be tackled and you even have a little tank of sorts to absorb shots while you're building up your warp speed in case you get locked before you enter warp.

shield extenders = bad idea

blowing up your sig means you're easier to hit and target

Also remember, the MWD + Cloak trick only works if you can reach 75% of your speed while mwding with the cloak so that you can instantly warp after you exit cloak. Most frigs/cruisers can do this easily but battleship and other clunky hulls might need some align time help.

Learn how to use the star map to avoid gate camps and you're pretty much golden, only experienced insta locking camps will get you. or if you're unlucky.

I discovered what a smart bomb camp looks like last week :) was somewhat confused at first but meh it was just an imicus, Knowing how to use the star map is the first and best way to get around low safely.

Don't rely solely on the star map. I was jumping around yesterday through systems that supposedly only had one or two pilots in space, and ended up staring at a fifteen man gate camp (fortunately I'm lucky). The star map only updates every like 30 minutes which isn't really often enough for safety.

If you are travelling in anything smaller than a cruiser, dcu is not optional, as it will get you through a disco BS sitting at 0 on a gate. so far i have landed on smartbomb battleships a few times and i can say it works on t1 and t2 frigs with no tank but the dcu II.

also, who ever said if you are podded dont rage in local, well, mate. If you are podded you are no longer in local, are you?

This is exactly what you need in null, not really or not at all in low since those don't have bubbles Blink

This is a good advice for either low or null

Best advice ever in whatever safety zone in game, stuff happens there's no hard feelings or need to smack talk/insult other players, it's just the cat&rat game when you get caught just move on and learn from your loss.

Use fast/agile ships, cloacky ships, learn to use low sec aggression timers and gate jumping station dock games/mechanics.

Avoid roaming alone in BS's and pretty much everything with huge align times, fly with other players, read intell channels if you have access to these (still, doesn't mean someone just forgot to announce some guy thou)

Low sec is awesome for frigates and cruisers, after this you start searching for trouble just by flying anything else, doesn't mean you can't or doesn't mean some don't but just that while you're learning use stuff giving you better chances.

Edit: forgot something pretty basic because I'm lazy and even lost several billions valuable ships because of this, learn to open star map and use info to spot gate camps, Dotland is great too but star map is already a huge valuable info source

Heavily plated BS's always warp instantly with MWD + Cloak, the only hulls that can't do it are ones larger than BS.

Much depends on what you are flying.

I started out by scouting for a couple of systems that would fit my needs.

create safe points at the gates (Smartbomb Disco Battleships are a more common sight these days) and stations you use

Start doing what you want to do in the systems you scouted out, learn to know the regulars, find out what brings them to the systems, make friends.

Maybe run a few logistic missions in a Blockade runner to learn the neighbouring systems.

Use D-scan!!!!!

when a gate is camped stay calm, you have a minute before you uncloak. think before you act.

frigates are usualy a pretty safe way to travel. otherwise covert-opps and Blockaderunners,

Use D-scan!!!!!

Don't be greedy, most ships I lost where because I wanted one step beyond.
