Unedited and Uncut, A friendly POS was reinforced by Suddenly Spaceships, we were asked to come help defend it. Suddenly Spaceships showed up with 2 dreads to finish off the tower and we dropped them with about 15 T3s, some hics, 8 guardians and a 2 triage archons. Right after we bridged in, Goonswarm joined the party with sleipnirs and other assorted ships. Soon after we brought in 5 dreads (2 moros, 3 revs) and began to eat away at their dreadnaughts. The enemy dreads and subcapitals killed one of our triage fairly quickly, but their dreads died shortly after that. We cleaned up some more subcaps and the enemy fleet extracted.

Killboard Report: http://kb.drunk-n-disorderly.com/relatedkills/785090/ *Does not include all enemies, only the ones that got on the triage kill or died are included in the battle report.

Hehe was wondering if i'd see this!

Just so you know, the POS wasn't reinforced by us, infact we didn't reinforce it as we knew it was a DnD blue tower (when we were blue). It was reinforced by huzzah federation. We also did you the favour, of defending it from them next time: http://cyn0.syn-dot.com/index.php/kill_related/18880/

Was good fun nonetheless, will have a watch now :D

Edit: Watched, I saw myself go poop! I really should be more risk averse Blink

Btw I just watched it again with sound, I like the bit where u realise the archon wreck was destroyed.

That was my last day of insurance, and one of my guys decided to ninja in, and take the archon loot. I made about 650m profit from that moros loss!

Shame I lost a 2.5bil pod really xD

Thanks for the info BP, I wasn't aware of that. Though I think I'll leave the description as it is, best not overcomplicate the context of the fight and just leave it as is. It's close enough and makes the most sense so it can just remain partially incorrect ;).

Nice kills btw that you linked.

good watch, although local was only around 90 most of the time while your fleet had 45-48 so idk about being outnumbered 2:1??

nonetheless good fight looks like.

Assorted cyno alts and scouts. We had a bit over 30 on field and the enemy had about 60 so it's something close to 2:1. But we had more dreads, triage carrier reps, expensive deadspace/faction fit tech 3s so even though we were outnumbered I'm not under any delusion that we were outmatched or that we 'won against the odds'.

Actually, we didn't have 60. Damn, if we had 60, then we'd of mopped up.

The whole fight itself wasn't played well by any parties, infact it was like watching 2 infants trying to slap eachother to death.

The fight's force multiplier was in the hands of DnDs dreads on backup, and the numbers fell at 44 in Suddenly Spaceships/BOS fleet, we had Tengu/Loki links running, with 3 cyno alts, so it equals out about 40 guys.

Neither side flew outnumbered imo, it was just a scrap :)

I went back and counted on the video manually.

Enemies on field: 40 sub capitals, 2 dreads, total 42
Friendlies on field: 29 sub capitals, 2 triage, 5 dreads, total 36

Sorry for miscount, was an estimation based on local and our fleet numbers. obviously 90-30=60 so I assumed and made an ass of myself :). Fixed OP.
Still as I said before, the numbers don't mean much when you have triage and blap dreads. So the fight was really by no means even, as BP said the dreads were a big force multiplier. Watch the video and see that we can't break reps until the dreads lock up the target.

You probably would've needed more dreads to go with it, 5 dreads is a bit too much for a single triage, maybe even a duo triage.

Time you took to lock targets, positioning, ammo choices, general piloting i.e shooting void/natimmater at targets 10km away, orbiting targets and so on.

In most fleets you would be right on nearly all counts. However, there is a method to my madness. For the most part in this fleet dps from a proteus is rather unimportant, at the beginning of the fight you'll notice I have null loaded and I focus on applying whatever dps I can, which is negligible. Though unlike what I can do normally in fights is to charge like a madman with cnantimatter and apply maximum dps, in this fleet our guardians were maintaining a range close to the edge of repair range, if I were to merely charge at the enemy I can easily find myself out of rep range and then I die. If I die the dps is gone, and it isn't coming back. So I stuck with the anchor.

Later as we get near a triage and we come close to the enemy fleet I load cnantimatter. This may mean I'm out of dps range, but when the dps is needed I like to have my antimatter or void loaded so I can approach and o/h for maximum dps. But of the majority of the fight it isn't important so I just keep shooting anything under 15km with antimatter and I'm still doing 300-400 dps even at that range but when there is a ship we need to kill ASAP, oh look my ship already has dps ammo saving me that 4k dmg I would lose in the 5 seconds it takes to switch.

Plus my main role in this fleet is my long range tackle, the scram stopped the tier 3s and sliepnirs from burning out of range, and kept the sliepnirs slow enough to be shot by the dreads. The disrupter kept ships out of the bubble on field to feed to our hungry killboard monster.

So to summarize,
As to locking targets late I only noticed 3 times that it took me longer than usual to lock in the video, and I have a small excuse because I was multiboxing in that fleet.
As to Positioning, I needed to stay in rep range, I can't run around the field like I normally do because the guardians are not staying in range of me, they are staying in range of the dps anchor.
As to ammo choices & shooting things at 10km with void/am, it's better to have the 800-900 dps ready right away and have 300-400 dps when it's not needed, rather than to live with 550-600 or change and lose the dmg you may have needed in those few seconds.
As to general piloting and orbiting, I don't exactly see what you mean here. Orbiting keeps you moving and can negate incoming dps while it can't really negate yours because you're in a blaster boat with mad tracking.

You need more then 5 seconds to apporach a atrget to oudamage null anyways.
