I can open the EVE client from in the file system, but the EVE Launcher is often a problem child for me when it tries to update itself with itself and fails.

Still an issue with the new patch. It doesn't seem to realize that it's fully patched to the latest level?

This is a long shot but run Repair from the CCP folder.

Could you provide any logs?

Thanks Romeo and CCP Atropos.

I was looking at the launcher and looking for a place to collect the logs? Or do I need to go into the EVE folder for that?

You'll need to go into the eve folder.

Atropos might be refering to Launcher.log, possible other things that are mentioned here: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_Launcher_Issues_and_Workarounds

The EVE Launcher will log out to a file inside your installation at launcher\cache\*.log. If you could copy and paste the latest one to a site like http://pastebin.com/ that would be great Smile

Alright, I saved the log for today, as it was repeating the 'update without an update' behavior. It's only a 6k file compressed. Is there a place I could send it that is not public or an email address?

Testing after the patch, and unfortunately, the same behavior happens.

Yea i just got the the same issue as well. Clicked on EvE, the updater winwdow came up and went away after a few secs, now I cant get eve to launch, not as admin, and not even from the direct launcher or client file. Repair ran but still no eve.

EDIT: just got it to work by running eve.exe from the bin folder

This new launcher is straight up bad. I didn't bother to shortcut the bin exe file with the old launcher since it's presence did not negatively impact the experience. So whatever, have your second window to spam me with stuff CCP.

However this new launcher is terrible and I recommend everyone launch directly from the bin file

(typically C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe)

Right click, create shortcut, and pin it to your taskbar.

Ran into this in another thread and it worked for me as well as other people, maybe the DEVS can sticky this solution and close about 4 of the threads on this lol:

Windows 8 64bit

I had a problem where the launcher would not launch at all after clicking on the EVE desktop icon. I tried to repair it but it did nothing. I also noticed in the repair program that it was intentionally skipping the \launcher folder for some reason. After I saw that, I rummaged through EVE Online\launcher\cache and saw an "updater" file and decided to try that. It fixed it with no problems after.

Hopefully it might help someone here?
