CCP i beg you, please dont forget the login screen!

For each new expansion you've made a new login screen, with really sweet visuals and new music two times per year.

Sometimes before i login i just sit and listen to the whole track and sink into the background of deep space, to get in a good mood before i play.

Actually one of the things i've been looking forward to in Oddysey is to get a new background with some dark exploration themed music to get spaced out before i play.

And now i get this new launcher and its gone?

Type in your userinfo in a boring box without any music, and then just end up logged in? Its stupid!

Please think about this guys.

I know i can bypass the launcher by running the game exefile directly, but i fear you will forget the login screen now that you dont let your players see it anymore.

What are your intentions, will you still keep making new login screens with music for the coming expansions or not?

I'm not a fan of login screens anyways. I'd much rather have a background download service that does things automagically for me. I understand that a launcher is nice when you're advertising in game / game related material, but those things could easily be implemented internally inside the game.

I cant see the advantage with login in from the launcher.

I've talked to many other players who feel the same way.

Each new login screen you've made has nostalgic value for the players who played long enough to see it, and every new expansion it gives you the feeling of a whole new game when you open eve and see these new visuals and music..

The launcher will feel very dry in comparison..

When CCP makes one character per acct we won't need the log in screen. But until that time I do find it handy, if not exactly necessary.

You know what I'd really like from the Launcher?

Click a button to launch all accounts at once.

It's pretty tedious to have to do all 4 one at a time. And some way of *safely* storing the password locally so I don't have to put that in too could be great.

I agree on that, but personally the feeling fades away the day after patch day and then the login screen is just something I want to deal with as quickly as possible. Does one day of good groove justify the dev time needed for creating a cool screen? Doubt it, tbh.

You could always start up the game X3:TC and listen to that login/start screen

The startup music/screens were actually the most memorable things about Eve for me as a new player.

I never thought about this, but it actually would be a shame to lose this tradition. It's the best part of each new expansion Bear

Im kind of happy not having to load the whole screen everytime though just to login. It speed things up and much logging multiple accounts easier (in theory if CCP sorts this out). That said, I will miss the login music and graphics upon startup. But perhaps they can add something else instead to another part of the game instead of focusing on login screens which players will most the time simply skip through.

I definitly agree, i remember the feeling as a new player that every new expansion was a completely new game.
And when i look back at the old login screens from the past its even more awesome.

For me its much more then one day, the feeling will last until the next expansion, it keeps the game feeling refreshed.
And i doubt there's that much dev time put into it. Definitly worth it for the players who care as much about the groove and feeling of eve as i do.

Yeah dude! the incarna one was really great. Its so epic when the music and the laser turrets both go online at the same time!

The music from these login screens is just epic.. I think they should use some of the songs more, not remove the login screen!

Maybe we can get an animated/themed character selection screen like the old login screen. It looks like some CCP devs picked up the idea already.
