Hi

Question

I have my Main Blacksuns copying but not sure if i have the best skills to max my bpc's eg metallurgy is at lvl 4 if it was at 5 would it take more minerals of the BPO when i put it into mat research ???

wat skills are needed for copying or can you put a BPO regardless of the ME + PE without any skills to begin with, am asking cos thinking bout making alt use my POS to copy BPO not sure if its worth investing the time training my alt and pausing my main

Science skill will increase copying speed by 5% per level. Metallurgy will increase ME research speed. Metallurgy doesn't influence the amount of materials used with production, that's Production Effeciency and the blueprint ME level.

And for completeness, Research skill increases PE research speed.

In general, no additional skills are required to copy a T1 BPO. If there are any requirements, they'll show up on the copying tab, on the bill of materials tab, on the blueprint. If there's no tab for that blueprint, there are no requirements. If you want to see an example of the requirements, look at the Prototype Cloaking Device blueprint.

The ME/PL levels of a BPO have no effect on the requirements to copy a BPO

Though not just for copying, this may be of use: Basic Skills

Generally a copying alt wants Science 5, Lab Operation 5, Advanced Lab Operation 3 (4 is better, 5 is overkill) and those skill's prerequisites.

That's really all for most purposes.

There are also 1%, 3% and 5% implants that increase copy times, with the 3% implant being pretty cheap and is the most optimal (cost to bonus that is). It may not sound like much, but when you consider 10 research slots, 24 hours a day, 30 days a month that comes out to 216 hours, or 9 days of additional research time per month (about 1 day per research slot).

This is actually a good question as I have just started researching BPO copying. Never really bothered with industry until recently.

So metallurgy and production efficiency do not really affect the quality of the BPC only the time it takes to produce one with those better qualities? So one may still dabble in making BPCs and not have to wait until those skills are trained?

Metallurgy and PE have no effect at all on BPO copying.

Metallurgy affects the speed of ME research.
Production Efficiency reduces waste when manufacturing (not waste from low ME, more waste)

Neither has any effect at all on copying blueprints

Ok guys

What if, you are training the skills right.... but you finish say metallurgy from lvl 4 to lvl 5 but you have BPO in ME research or copying does those current BPO in labs take into effect that you have just trained to lvl 5 for metallurgy ?? or any other skill for that matter ???

or do you have to wait for those BPO to complete the job and new jobs you put in take into account lvl metallurgy ???

Those skills reduce the duration of the research/copy. When you create a job, the time required is calculated at the time you create the job, hence it's the skills at the time you create the job that matter
