One thing I'm curious about: Why was this update even needed?

SSO might be all nice and handy for web services, but it doesn't do a thing for the client when you want to play the game. I might be missing something here, so some reasoning from CCP would be a good thing to have for reference on future thoughts and ideas.

Next up is some of the changes that I've already found irritate me -- and why I generally run the client directly instead of the launcher.
-- Doesn't remember the username for main or alt accounts.
-- Constantly annoys me with EULA. Seen it 5 times now, stop f'n buggin me. (edit, seems to have stopped for now)
-- The UI is slow, with the sliding bits and all that. To me they are a slowdown for when I want to get in fast.
-- The UI seems crowded and disjointed.

The ideas are well... fix the above issues. I never really even saw the launcher before unless there was a patch, and I liked it that way.

Having the launcher pass login information to the client is ... sloppy imho -- adds an unnecessary POF into the mix.

/bump-ing this because... well...

Launcher needs to remember at least the username! There is a drop down button, but it doesn't do diddly squat.

Launcher relies on the web servers to be up (SSO again blah), which lately... haven't been (Client itself doesn't seem to rely on this so why the heck does the launcher?)

Launcher doesn't need to have sliding crap. I know, you're trying to make it fancy shmancy, but really, most of us don't care about the launcher. Its just something to patch the game so we can see fancy-shmancy internet spaceships shooting other internet spaceships.

Could not agree more it took me over 20 mins to log two accounts on.

Some more problems that need fixing:

I Disconnected, the launch then took 5 mins to check client (again ) if I was in a mission of PVP I would be dead by then,
It does not seem to like be interpreted and will check client yet again.

If you Log on will not save your multiple accounts
When you press log it does not just brings up the play button

The idea looks fine and we all know CCP like to move things forward but the execution on this has not been good and a lot of people are unhappy about it not just working.

Bit of a moan as CCP get most things to work well 1st time

Okay, so my launcher remembers the usernames I have. I just think it'd be nice if it would move the cursor to the password field after I have selected the username from the drop down box.

I might download the sisi client and see if it's any different than the current tranq launcher.

Feature request:
* In Launcher settings, add a checkbox to discourage launcher from using system proxy settings.

Why?
- in some networks proxy is filtered, making the Launcher unable to connect to CCP web servers, and thus start the client
- direct connection to internet is not filtered
- user cannot change proxy settings due to Domain Policy

Another useful idea: since we have the SSO already implemented, the next logical step would be to link accounts belonging to the same person under one set of user credentials.

Most networks use a passive redirect proxy anyways (made several networks that do this because people would try to bypass the proxy, and so bypass the filters), so this might not help any.

The bit about SSO being used for multiple accounts I can partly agree with, but from a security standpoint I can see why they won't do it: if someone manages to hack one account, they have them all.
