Is there still value in having separate installs for each client you plan to run?

I asked this question in a another thread and it didnt' get answered ( probably because it was a tad off-topic ).

So, back in the day (2003, 2004-ish), it was all the rage to create separate installations of the eve software for each client you planned to run simultaneously. Enough people touted it's value that I gave it a try, and it seemed to improve performance, so I still do it today.

I wonder if this practice of maintaining separate client installations has any value today?

thanks in advance,

Nowadays you can use a single client, and make use of junctions so each of your accounts generates a separate cache folder. Each client having its own cache folder is important to prevent issues caused by multiple clients trying to write into a cache file at the same time.

Only issue I've ran into was related to IGB cache/cookies. Wasn't worth fiddling with junctions.

The junction method is great, and it means you can be secure in having separate settings, different overviews, etc.,etc. You don't really need several installs clogging up your hd.
