polergeist one of those original classic /cult horror movies

the remake alot of of those beautifull young actos who are more famous for how they look , dress and date than how they act
and add alot of really juicy special effects to compensate the lack of any acting skills of those actors

We need to hold an intervention and tell hollywood it has a problem and we are worried about it.

A remake addiction is a terrible thing. Wasnt it better when hollywood was on crack?

Hollywood was never really on crack - they preferred the powder form. West Hollywood was on crack.

If I were going to remake movies, I'd raid the cheap old 1950s and 1960s horror and sci-fi flicks. Some great ideas and stories there, done with limited budgets and the low-tech effects that were available then. They might take some modern-ing up to meet audience expectations these days (in other words, they might have to be a little more hyperactive). Those old movies were almost more like plays or short stories on film than cinema.

H'wood only remakes properties that made historically a ton of money so that they can make yet another ton of money.

Those ancient SF movies didn't really do all that well except for "The Thing from Another Planet" and "The Day the Earth Stood Still", both of which were remade (and yes I love "Carpenter's The Thing"). The only other one remade I can think of is "The Blob" which was the most popular when the original ran on TV in the 70's.

Edit: "Invisible Man" was remade as Paul Verhoeven's "Hollow Man" (blech).
