BTW, Malcanis. CSM comments are just more gasoline on the fire.

CSM either tacitly or explicitly agreed to this. CCP says it was explicit, but it's just like corporate standings. Hilmar's credibility drags down the credibility of everyone who works for CCP.

I must be the only person that used the launcher all of once or twice. After it kicked off the real game, I right click on it and select 'Pin to Taskbar'. To start up the game, I click it the appropriate number of times for the number of clients I want open...only 1 or 2. I log in to each, just like has been done for years.

The real login screen still shows incompatible protocol when an update is necessary.

Now if the launcher was one of those irritating auto-launch things in windows, that sat in the task tray, and always kept you logged on, that might be kind of useful except for the irritation. Then we could click that pinned program icon and not have to type each time...

CCP,

Please give us back the 'Log Off' option button in the settings window. This 'NEW' launcher seems to have removed that option from the settings window entirely. I for one want that back. The rest of the launcher I can live with tho it slows down something horrible if trying to log in two accounts at the same time.

Note, using the regular .exe file does return the Log Off option button.

I have cancelled my two alt accounts.
CCP obviously didn't want those subscriptions anyway.

The launcher works badly with your regular, one main account, so I won't cancel this one right away.

I really didn't think this would turn into another 'Summer Of Rage', but I am glad to see that some players still care about the game. It really appears to me that CCP still doesn't.

TASK MANAGER - Multiple Launcher processes.

When I start the game from the desktop icon Eve Launcher starts, and I get 2 Laucher processes in Task Manager (which is fine as I understand it's bootstraping). Log into game and play, everything is fine..... log out and the the 2 Launcher Processes are still there (even though check box for closing launcher after log in is activated).

Try to log in again and I get 2 more Launcher processes are added to Task Manager (x2 per log in attempt) but this time the Launcher will hang. If I manually remove all the Launcher tree processes from Task Manager and re-start the game from the desk top icon, everything is fine again.... until the next time.... rinse and repeat.

Anyone else with this issue? Or any remedy?

My work around: Make a desktop shortcut to the EVE.exe file located in the game folder/bin folder.

This will bypass the "Launcher" completely and you can enter the game as normal, before all this mess (and you also get the Log Off option back,,,, not just Quit the game).

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD I WANT 2 RUNNING PROGRAMS INSTEAD OF ONE?

really though CCP. I'd bear with the new launcher crap if it didn't clutter up my Alt+Tab menu with a useless icon that i don't need aside from logging in and changing characters.

I'd much rather have the launcher auto-close like the old launcher and then have an option in-game for switching characters rather than the old method of closing the game and re-opening a new instance of launcher/game exe.

The new launcher is slow as molasses in January. It isn't an improvement in any way I can tell. I am not paying my money to watch a launcher load my account. Please roll this pig back.

This is what we want. Until you get there, leave it the **** alone.

No, it's not. I don't want to have my client settings downloaded from the cloud. I use multiple client installs precisely to have multiple client settings per account.

Master account thing is a bit meh for me. Sounds great initially, slightly doubtful as to the actual pickup it'll have.

This is what we want, linking the accounts but not with this buggy launcher. The settings in the cloud has the advantage, you cant't loose them by yourself.

Another question.

The Devs started this thread, but they are not participating in it.

Are they not reading it, or do they not care?

Use ExeFile.exe

But for how long?

It is already announced that this login method will be taken away in the near future.

My launcher gets stuck at this stage:

Quote:
(3/4): APPLYING EVE_ONLINE_538542-538542_WIN.PATCH: 100.0%

Also tried to run the repair-tool a few times, and it gets the job done.
But since the launcher itself cant get to stage 4/4 im never able to hit the "play" button.

Currently just launch the exefile.exe manually, but also some way i could fix the launcher working again?

I'm sure someone has said this already, but as CCP is forcing me to jump through hoops (again), I'm just going to say it again:

Would you PLEASE stop making changes that force us to recreate and position all of our windows, reconfigure our overview, and so on. Four accounts, multiple characters per account... WHY DO YOU TORTURE US LIKE THIS?????

After adjusting all of my in-station settings, I just undocked and saw that my overview was back to ground zero, and that leaves me with the biggest I DON'T WANT TO BOTHER PLAYING feeling. A couple of hours of tedium re-doing all of this just really takes the fun out of space.

EDIT: yes, I've re-read the initial post and see that their may be a workaround for the lost settings bug. It still leaves me wondering how in the world the launcher could have been rolled out without that bug being caught before release.

If there is an explanation for not rolling this 'upgrade' back, I think we deserve to know.

Cloud settings sounds very bad, once you think about the implications.

Firstly, if you login from different computers from time to time (say, laptop and desktop), then your graphical settings and window layouts can vary significantly between the two. Many laptops struggle with minimal settings, whereas you may prefer higher settings and resolution on your desktop. Cloud settings would mess you about whenever you first log in to a different device.

Secondly, many players multibox. Currently it's possible to have multiple installs/symlinks/junctions etc. with independent client settings (typically graphical settings, such as quality, resolution or window location for multiple monitors). Cloud settings would prevent this from being possible.

Of course, those arguments would be moot if CCP were to maintain client settings in the cloud for every device/install you have logged in from, but doing so would significantly increase the amount of data CCP would need to store on their servers, and gives practically no benefit except in the case of your computer's drive failing, at which point you have far bigger problems to worry about than some internet spaceship settings.

As I said before, personally a master account has limited draw for me, so I'll largely stay out of that discussion. However, it does sound like it could be a pain to implement and has additional security implications (If my master account gets hacked, all my accounts are hacked)

^^^This.

Ffs CCP, just reinstate the old launcher and do your stupid experiments somewhere else.

I'm PAYING to play this game and right now I don't even have a launcher of any sort, let alone a working one.

Repair tool doesn't work either.

How about reimbursing my sub?
