Client settings rebooting?

ATTN: CCP VOLUNTEERS, This is NOT about the new client, it's about the client in general. If you read what I put, I have had this problem for the past week, not just since the last update today. Thank you! Lol

EDIT: Rephrased the title since I am not ranting and don't want to send the wrong impression! A bit miffed but certainly not ranting P

Is there a way to backup the settings I make with regards the game's UI, Overview and other custom settings. Recently the game has decided it likes to randomly completely forget these and force me to set them up all over again.

This is obviously rather tedious and if I can avoid it by having a backup of my settings that would be great!

It would also be useful to copy these across multiple accounts so I don't have to set them up each time for seven accounts.

I used to just deal with this but recently the client has gone full 'tard and keeps forgetting my setup! Oops

I assume the new patch caused this latest reboot but its done it at least 4 times this week already!

Any help would be appreciated.

If you've experienced this after updating the EVE Launcher, please try restarting it. If the problem persists, it would be great if you could post the logs from the EVE Launcher.

If anyone can point out how to do this I would appreciate it.

Confirming the new launcher rollout also came with both a nice juicy settings reset and also a browser bookmarks reset.

At least it gives me something to do.

I know having my thread moved here is a death sentence but I can give it a bump just in case!

The exact location depends on the version of Windows you are using.

Check in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings

The file prefs.ini has your global graphics settings, which are the same across all accounts and characters. The other files have your per-character settings. These are binary files I thin, so no way to copy, for example, overview settings and window locations, to be the same for all characters, but at least you can back them up.

Actually, there is a way to do this.

If you look in that above directory, you'll find a bunch of files that start with core_char_99999999.dat (the 9's are actually the character number) The easy way to find out which character that is, is to use evemon and go to file/manage api keys. Where it says CCP then a space, then an 8 digit number... that is the number of your character. Match them up...and there you go. Now, find the number of the character that you want to copy, make a copy of it, then rename it to the characters number that you want to have those settings also.

All done.

Good luck!
