Having spent the evening listening to all manner of CCP greatness on Soundcloud, I've just realised that in two weeks we get to hear the new Odyssey theme. Can't wait! Big smile

Of course, if CCP was looking for a way to get me to part with some hard earned cash, they could put the previous themes on a soundtrack album, hint hint...=3

EDIT: ...I just saw in another thread there won't be a new login theme because the launcher has changed. I'm going to go and cry myself to sleep now. ='(

Now I understand why people are so angry about the launcher. The music has been part of EVE for the past decade, each theme giving its expansion its own character and soul. I was less angry about the whole CQ/WiS thing than I am about this.

Bring back the music.

I doubt it's gone for good. CCP wouldn't remove something so iconic like that so abruptly. They're likely to put character select on what used to be the login screen.

The traditional retribution login screen is still CURRENTLY there if you launch exefile directly. Whether odyssey will have an updated screen, I have no idea.

I'm just happy that the 'traditional' multiclient setup of junctioning the eve install folder and launching exefile directly from each version, still works great, and I don't have to deal with the new launcher unless it's patch time.

If CCP clarified what they are planning to do with the login screen, lots of people wouldn't be angry at the moment.

Only CCP would have a concert celebrating the music in their game and then within a month remove one of the most iconic places for their in game music. It really is rather schizophrenic.

Apocrypha had the BEST theme music.

Seeing how Odyssey is also about exploration and seaeking unknown, I hope that the soundtrack has a similar tone to it.

If I'm not mistaken - and I often am - with the new launcher, the Retribution theme music can still be heard once you get to the character selection screen after logging in. At least, that's what I'm getting on my system. So the themes aren't necessarily lost. But you do lose the impact of that great animated first login screen. I'll sometimes pause just to listen to that opening theme, and I know that I'm not the only one who does that.

So which one is cooler? The last one, not the new one. But there you are.

OK- I have to ask: why is the Drake a lie? I'm too new to be able to afford one yet, but that's got me curious.
