I am a returning player. The last time I played was about 3 years ago. At the time I could look at previous missions I had run. I thought it was in the character sheet but now I can't find it. I am trying to see how many more missions before a story line mission.

You can open your wallet journal tab, and then filter the list to just show you mission rewards. Since you get 1 reward per completed mission, you can just count those.
