Ishtar Solo plexing - Armor, active shield or passive shield? Also confused about tank requirements

I'm trying to set up an Ishtar fit for solo exploration in Serpentis/Guristas space. I'm sad to say I can't even figure out what the best tanking system is. I've seen Ishtar fits with armor, fits with active shield, and a couple of fits with passive shield (though these had BRC: Shield power relay in all the lows, so no DDAs)

I'm also not sure how much incoming damage I need to tank, and this is complicated by the fact that the HAC's low sig size probably reduces some of the damage, but then fitting a passive shield tank increases the sig size @_@

Basically, if you have any fits that work for 6-8/10s, I'd love to see them. Thanks :)

Have you tried fitting one in EFT or pyfa?

What do you think would have more advantages? Have you tried flying one?

soloed all the way up till 9/10

gun there just to get agro(this was before the npc random targetting change so now you have to babysit your sentry)

as said this was some time ago that i used it (and i changed the armor reper for a named for some better tank) but it should still work

also at times used a shield tanked ishtar

for the site where i needed to use a codebreaker/hack/salvage mod i used this

[Ishtar, Ishtar : Ultimate Exploration]
Capacitor Power Relay II
Medium Armor Repairer II
True Sansha Armor Kinetic Hardener
True Sansha Armor Kinetic Hardener
True Sansha Armor Thermic Hardener

Cap Recharger II
Parallel Weapon Navigation Transmitter

And how was the tanking overall? Did you have cap issues?

at time i would have sime site (there was one site i believe a hacking site) that spawned a lot of sentry guns and it would really hit hard so i uppped the tank a bit with a better armor repper and it wasnt a expensive repper so seemed like a good thing to do.

also at times cicled my sentry drone to lessen damage a bit but there was never really a issue

the first fit had like 667 tank together with the small sig radius it has a well enough tank for those site

fits where on tank cap stable i could run the repper all the time (that what i pretty much did all the time...fly in get agro drop sentry and loot after :) )

Only time I used shields on an Ishtar was bltizing L3s for standings and lulz. Problem with shield tank on that ship is that you need two omnis and a prop mod to fly well and there's just not enough room for that.
Armor Ishtar is the way to go.

low:
2 drone damage amp, 1 medium repper, 1 hardener, 1 reactive repper
mid:
afterburner, cap rechargers to be stable and omnis
high:
civilian gun for aggro salvagers (as much as cpu left)

basically drop sentries, drop can and orbit it at 500 and apply dmg/ scoop drones if aggroed (you can fit small remote armor repper)

6/10 is the best an ishtar can handle. try an 8/10 and it will flop over. In angel space, 8/10s are more deadly than 10/10s and scream certain death for most ships.

Ishtar's natural resists are strong vs Serpentis/Guristas, not Angel.

Yep, of course it can do 8/10s.

It fits fine with a passive shield fit as well. Not going to post something you can find on your own forums with 5 minutes of effort.

In Guristas/Serpentis i would armor tank it any time. Only if you for instance want to do that pseudo 6/10 of Serpentis, you want passive shield (neuts).

[edit] also telling tank values is difficult, since most of your tanking ability comes when you start moving and turn on your AB - you could fit a dual repper against guristas and tank 2k or so sitting still, but you are better of reducing your tank until comfortable and slapping on drone damage amps for more gank.[/edit]

Passive shield Ishtar is best for Serpentis and Guristas plexing (especially Serp due to the neuting towers you'll often see). Fill your lows with meta 4 shield power relays, add a 10MN AB that keeps you cap stable with all those SPR's (because many sites don't neut and you want to be able to move around), add 3 T1 shield purger rigs. From there, just EFT the best mix of large shield extenders and rat-specific passive hardeners, then add the best small AC's you can fit with your CPU limitations (factoring in the cloak you'll want for low/null operations). If you have any CPU left over, salvager is the way to go. You should be able to crack 1K dps repped, which is plenty for all low and may null sites.
