Control binds

Hello all! I have another quick question.. Hope the answer is simple enough...

I have a Razer Tiapan mouse, and I wanted to bind one of the extra buttons to lock target.

Is there a way I can bind "lock target" to both the [ctrl] button and [mouse button 4] ?

The other way I have already tried doing it is by binding the 4th mouse button to [ctrl], which sort of works, but I can not hold it down.. It only works for about 1/4 second.. Then its as if I let go of the button, even tho I am still holding it.. The wierd part is because I tried it with the on screen keyboard to see if it did it, but it works fine there .. So it has to do with how the razer program interacts with eve I think...

Which brings me back to the first question, is there a way I can bind a control to 2 keys?

Thankyou very much!

lock target is already "CTRL + Left Click". You can dig around in the esc menu to see if you can reset it, or add a secondary binding.

Really, the best way to do it is leave the defaults alone (for the most part), and use the G-buttons (or whatever Razer calls them --> I use Logitech mice) to do some of the other stuff that you do a lot -- open the market, minimize all windows, close the current window, drone commands, etc.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I do realize that the ctrl button on the keyboard is lock target. And I don't want to change it to anything else because I like it the way it is.

However I would also like to use my mouse to lock target.

As far as I know Eve doesn't allow more then 1 key to perform the same function. (if Eve does allow this can someone say how to do it, as it would solve my issue.)

And as I said, there is some sort of incompatibility between the razer software and Eve, because when I try to use the button on my mouse to lock, it only flashes, as if it were just a quick click. No matter how long I hold down the button.. It seems to work outside of eve, so its not the mouse..

So... Is there a way I can bind 2 keys to 1 function within eve?

Thankyou!

If you go into there esc menu there is a section there for key binds. i'm not 100% sure you can set it to a mouse button, but if it can be done anywhere, it's there.

as suggested above i'd suggest the simpler solution would probably be to create the binding out of game with the mouses software. and go from there.

EVE doesn't allow more than one, and Logitech or other programmable keyboards or mice have an issue, specifically, with the Ctrl, Alt, and Shift keys and how holding them down is emulated. I've ran into the issue, though I don't have the same mouse you have.

My solution was to use z instead of Ctrl for locking targets. You can hold z down, and z-click targets to lock them, and the mouse button 4 can be reprogrammed to send z rather than Ctrl and acts much better at holding it down. Note that you would have to click mouse button 4 AND mouse button 1 to lock a target, because as far as I know there is no mouse hover functionality in the game.

I've actually removed ctrl, alt, and shift from most of the EVE key combos. You can group your weapons in the game, you can drag and drop the modules around, and you won't really use more than 4 high, 4 medium, and 4 low modules that require activation, so I've remapped high slots to F1-F4, med slots to F5-F8, and low slots to F9-F12. No ctrl, no alt, no shift. Actually, shift- overheats them.

Anyway, by default ctrl is used for targeting AND is used for pretty much all EVE keybinds, so any programmable software gets really confused about how to handle the key. Removing ctrl from most keybinds makes stuff work better.

They also had a bug, which they probably didn't fix, where the survey scanner has ctrl hard-coded as a targeting key, so even if you have z or mouse 4 or whatever, if you're trying to lock asteroids from the survey scanner window you have to use ctrl.

Yes, the solution lies in the razor software if it is to be found.

Go with the Code.
