Changes to pirate faction BS

Hi guys,

Was just wondering if the changes to pirate faction battleships have been announced yet?

After doing some google searches i can't seem to find any info on the matter.

It's not going to take a while... It is happening in Odyssey . Reduction in the Optimal/Falloff bonus on a T2 Tracking Enhancer from 15%/30% to 10%/20%. For those not so good at math that's cutting the bonus in half!

Yes someone can argue that this is isn't technically a Machariel nerf but that's splitting hairs. The end result is the Machariel will be less effective.

that's not actually cutting in half, but cutting 1/3, In half would be 7.5%/15%

Post stacking penalty and put into actual range of guns on the ship, that's a 10% loss.

It's the blasterboats that already don't have enough range that's hit hard. You either reach point range, or you don't. When you're in 10% of point range to begin with... That's where it's a big deal.

Even if there was no stacking penalty, and assuming you fit 3 of them.
1.3^3 = 2.197, so basically doubling falloff range
Post nerf, ignoring stacking penalty:
1.2^3 = 1.728, increasing falloff range by 73% basically

With stacking penalties, it becomes
1.3 *1.261*1.171 = 1.81862
vs
1.2*1.174*1.114 = 1.5694

So the "bonus" is 82% vs 57% increase to range. 57/82= 0.695 -> you Still get 70% of the previous bonus

You must be doing funny math.

I still cannot understand why the falloff bonus needs to be twice what the optimal bonus is... I was hoping to see 15/15 TEs... but they nerfed optimal as well, and keep falloff double the optimal.

AFAIK it's been suggested if not outright stated by a dev that the machariel and cynabal are up for nerfs and that the phantasm is being looked at for a buff. Other than that I don't recall any specific ships being mentioned in conjunction with likelihood of being nerfed/buffed.

I did mess that up... I guess I need to go back to to schools to learn maths Big smile

From what I see on EFT the falloff of my Machariel with 3 TE's will change from 72 to 59. That's a 13km loss. I wouldn't say that ruins the ship but it will make me dust off my CNR.

I learned a long time ago it's nice to be able to fly different races of ships. When CCP decides to nerf one I just fly something else Idea

In one hour 21 minutes my primary character finishes Minmatar Cruiser 5. About 31 hours later she'll finish Minmatar Frigate 5. At that point the only sub-cap combat ships she won't be able to fly are black ops ships, and I think they'll be next on the list just so I can do L4s with a widow.
