Why is it such a challenge to move ships?

how do you lock this thing?

You can ask ISD to lock the thread by reporting your OP and ask for a thread lock.
Or just wait a couple of months and they get locked automatically.

I appreciate the help from people such as ShashFluffers. There are players in this game who are new, maybe only been playing for a year like myself, who don’t know as much as you do and don’t know everything there is about the game. Shah took the time to answer my question in detail. My question was simply regarding the fact that I had to repackage ships and I was curious as to why. Several posts later, Shah and few others took the time to answer my question and explain to me that my understanding regarding this was incorrect and gave me good resources to help me understand what I need to do.

Then you take posts such as yours, who answer my question as well, but then continue to call my questions “whine threads”. Now, if I am posting in a forum designed to assist new players with questions, yet I am always bashed for asking questions that would help me in understanding the dynamics of the game. Should I just not ask questions to other players and directly bug CCP instead to learn their game?

Why do people come in to this forum if their intentions are to complain about and bash the questions being asked of new players who are learning?

Issue is that you said you looked up older posts about it and they also clearly tell you what is possible.

Many older post already have the info about the Orca/Carriers/Freighter options.

Points taken, thanks.

Also, I don’t think you can train on an Alt while training on your main character though (if I remember) correct? So I think that approach at least may not be a good solution for us new people.

It's no real biggie. Training up a basic hauler alt takes about a week or so... two weeks if you want to be able to use tech 2 cargo expanders. After that, you can go right back to training your main character.

What you gain from this is a virtually anonymous character that can fulfill most of your consumer needs while your main can focus purely on the task at hand (like piracy and other criminal acts).

This.

Also, CCP is testing with a function that you can pay extra to have a 2nd char training for a month for the cost of a PLEX.

Before writing a petition

What did it say?...here's what I imagine...

Hi CCP,

I don't want to buy a ship capable of doing what I want and I also don't want to understand how moving fitted ships works. Furthermore, having 2 different weight values for packaged and built ships confuses me. Please fix.

Before writing a petition I decided to ask this simple question to other folks and not bug CCP. Instead, I get all the high school kids with nothing better to do. It is a just simple question I am wanting know so I can better understand the dynamics of the game. If you think it’s a dumb question to ask, just don't answer me.

1.) Yes lets waste some GMs time with something utterly useless. You will be loved by the GMs.
2.) Your tone suggest you are the childish person.

Just consider rigs as part of the cost of the move.

Other suggestions

- Keep your hangar tight and regularly reprocess/sell off things you will not use very soon.
- "Loss" is part of Eve, don't get attached to stuff and don't train 4 days to save %2 reprocess on a medium shield booster unless you're a miner or reprocessor. Take everything that's worth under 100k, melt the whole pile. Boom, now you can either sell that pile of minerals or take it to your next base to build yourself things.
- For ships, anything t1 with full insurance, strip it, undock and self-destruct (optionally, go salvage the wreck)
- If you're 4-5 jumps from a market hub, fly it, repackage and put it on the market. Fly back in rookie ship.

Eve does not lend itself well to min/max price OCD

A move is a financial hit no matter how you slice it, every moment you spend not doing something productive is isk loss, so if you lose 30m on rigs or you lose hours flying stuff around, it's a loss.

The faster you can get, say, %90 of the value of your stuff, and be at your destination, the faster you can be ramping up your operations.

That last %10 is what trips you up.

Go for the FAST buck NOT the last buck.

Thanks j'poll,

I saw something about this, is this "power of two" thing you are referring to? Or something else? What happens after the month expires? Do you then have to renew your account? or can I transfer a char to my existing account if that is possible?

Power of Two is an offer to get a 2nd account for cheap.

The new feature:

You have an account you pay for to play.
You can then apply an EXTRA PLEX and then a 2nd character on that account can train.
After 30 days (and if not extended) the character with the least SP will pause the training queue

So basically...you pay twice as much for a single account to train 2 characters.
It's almost the same as having 2 accounts train a single character each, without the hassle / costs to move a character over to another account.

Sound interesting. I think it might be a little cheaper just to buy a second account, but if you make enough in-game ISK to buy PLEX, I can see how this is a good idea.
thanks

Well a PLEX is a month of game time...so unless you take long term subscriptions that gives you a discount, they are as expensive.

I see where you're going. There is a difference of $4 between a subscription price and a PLEX price (granted there are discounts, promotions etc.). I might look into something like a second account in the future here, I know a lot of people do this approach.
