Exploring wrecked ships

I wonder...

There has been a lot of controversy around Eve Incarna, Walking in Station etc.... I'm not here to light up the debate again. But I can't find any news about an idea i think i read from CCP, that said they were working on a gameplay where Players could explore wrecks, maybe even fighting drones in it, after boarding them in deep space... I don't know if this comes out of my mind (i find it really awesome) or if I really read this, but... with the new odyssey expansion coming out, axed toward exploration, has everyone read such information from CCP, lately?

Doubtful.

Also fight drones would work how? Incarana is nothing more then slow walking in station, not a FPS.

Maybe not for eve. Maybe something you could hire dust mercs to go clear for profit and fun? I'd like that more. As for actual information i have heard nothing from devs regarding eve pilots walking around on wrecks. Odyssey is going to about space exploration mechanics overhaul and industry/pos tweaks.

And run the risk of getting my boots dirty? I think not. Better let the dust peasants handle this.

If only CCP would release an FPS game vaguely related to Eve...

It'd never catch on Shocked

Why would a capsuleer want to risk an environment like that?

How about the hacking minigame? From what I've seen, it borrows from rogue-likes and has minimal RPG stats, so it shouldn't take long to cook up something similar for a wreck exploration mini-game.

A board is created, with several squares which are the entry points of the wrecks. Your 'team' could be people in spacesuits, or miniature salvage drones, and they move between points on the 'board' with random encounters and loot.

Instead of jettisoning everything into space, the insertion team has a limited carrying capacity, and it's up to the player to decide whether to keep something or throw it away forever. So instead of having to grab everything at once, tough decisions would have to be made about what to bring back and what to leave behind.

"Captain, giant ant aliens are attacking your boarding party! -- Order them to run (and drop the loot) / Order them to fight"

Seems interesting to me. Some randomization, something skill related (Boarding-Party-Command Skill?), could work in the same UI like the hacking game, or just text-based. But in the end, seems to be fun, would create storys players could tell non-eve-players, etc.

Also boarding partys could be consumable "Clone Soldiers", which can be build in a new POS-Module called Military Cloning Barracks or something.

And if you want to develop this further, maybe the DUSTies could be useful in this. But you need new ideas then.

I confirm. You want to look for dev posts in "the future of our prototype" thread, and/or the other one about incarna.
One is in GD, the other is Test Server Feedback.

Don't feed the trolls.

Is this what you are remembering? I too would love to see this but I also know it either won't happen or is far down the list (behind the likes of sub-system targeting and fleet formations).

How do you leave your pod to do so? Pods are like.... your brain in a jar.

You're also naked.

That's an interresting element to gameplay. As you explore the dark and long forgotten wreck your corp mate turns to you and says,

"I just saw something move!"

"What was it?" You ask with slight fear.

"It looked like a naked person sliding around the cold metal floor covered in pod goo." He replies,

"..."

"..."

"Okay, moving on."
