Obviously it is not that safe to say that we will get new animations, as the subject seems unstable (and in the verge of collapse ? :D) CCP side.

We almost had an update to wormhole space, almost !...

CCP hates WSpace, only took them how many years to make POS's usable? This effect had better be a placeholder, fuckign with the camera needlessly to show something that was already there is silly.

No, CCP just doesn't play in wspace. We're aren't as cool as the nullbears.

Yea, the other transitions are much sweeter...

The way I envision it:

Camera slowly moves into the hole, then the interior of the holes' sphere becomes the exterior skybox, and the hole peels back to become the other end and reforms the sphere. The camera then pulls out to its default position on your ship, with the other end of the wormhole visible.

It doesn't need to be fast and flashy, just natural.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

The new animation is not only annoying, but it also seems very half-assed. I would love to see something like the kspace jump effect, but with maybe a different color, you know if you go from a class 5 to a class 3 for example the tunnel will start dark red and then it will gradually shift towards the pinkish white of a c3? Although I know that is probably not possible due to the distribution of art resources in a perfect world that would be awesome. I would be very happy with the k-space jump effect in wspace or just no change in effect at all, not this transition which is about equal to a stock power point slide transition.

TL;DR: Make the jump effect the same as kspace, or non at all lots of us don't want to be plagued with a stock power point transition.

It will be better to see the ship going thru the hole than that.

Bob Artis, you will be missed.

Well, I really agree with the demand for making WH jumps identical to that in Origins, as it already sets a standard for that animation. We can argue that the EVE wormhole was of a completely different scale than these temporary WHs we see today, but we just have to scale the effect.

A jump gate is an artificially made and controlled structure, but a WH is supposed to be a literal tear in the fabric of the universe, thus completely unpredictable or chaotic. So, rather than a bubble effect, a violent disturbance around the fringe (where the space-time is actually torn, resulting in violent energy fluctuations) and a peaceful centre (where we are perceiving the other space using the light which passes through the passage way). The centre could be fluctuating because of the light being distorted by the high energy and gravity distortions in the WH.

Yep, it'll be great new nebulae and wormhole jump transitions for wormhole dwellers.

So has anyone seen the dev-post in this thread? Top-secret stuff?

If all of the other players get new jump-animations for their gates, we want animations for our wormholes too. New and shiny please, with a lot of flickering lights, chaos, bright light, etc. Thx CCP.

Most wormhole dwellers i've met think WH space is abandoned. I'm living in WH space since october 2012 and i confirm their opinions, WH space need some love. There are no V3, turrets or launchers for sleeper drones, no new beatiful nebulae or wormhole effects in unknown solar systems and now an horrible jump effect compared to the EPIC Lol new stargate jump effect from known space.

Came in expecting a dev post, left disappointed.

Also, srsly CCP. You can do better than that, you've already proven that. Why create something as sloppy as this?

"Hey Guys I'm just going to respond to this wormhole post, they bring up some good points..."

"NO! IF YOU GIVE THEM ANYTHING THEY'LL START TALKING ABOUT POS's AGAIN!" (wrestles the dev away from the keyboard)

"it's already been posted!"

"DELETE IT QUICK BEFORE THEY SEE IT!"

As I commented in that video:

I find that 'smooth effect' quite fitting for something as natural as a WH, in contrast to something as artificial as a wargate (resulting in a more violent transition). Warpgates are still more stable devices (they're dedicated structures) than cynos, so those should have an even more violent transition, such as lots of red and shacking and lightning, according with the cyno animation when seen from afar.

That said, I'm sure the WH is still in development and we're just watching a WIP, as we could see the still untextured T3 BC's in SiSi long before they were finished. I guess the animation will be similar to the WH ambient animation, but adding an effect of falling into it, traversing highly distorted backgrounds after smoothly coming out the other side.

In fact, the most 'realistic' animation for a WH jump is as simple as this:

It would be, however, too fast for serving as loading screen! XD But remember the EVE Universe: Origins trailer and the EVE Gate animation there...
