So, as usual when I come back to EVE after a long absence I feel like I've been dropped in the deep end. Trying to remember where all my assets are, what I was doing in what system, what my rep is with factions etc. Anyway, last time I played FW was in but I never gave it a chance, this time around I'm thinking about getting into it.

How is it? Is it lame with mostly PvE or do fights break out fairly often without being blobbed and hosed? Do the items/ships you can get with LP get better as your faction goes up in Tier? Does anything bigger than a BS really get used in these things and is there any way to ever earn/buy a Capital ship from LP(and for that matter is there any reason to)?

I like the idea of deep space stuff where all ships are used, capitals roam around and all that jazz. I tend to not like getting involved in corps though so those goals tend to fall through, trying to see if maybe FW is more easily accessible and less commitment oriented while still allowing me to experience all the fun stuff in EVE ship wise etc.

Thanks for any advice guys(and gals).

Lots of fights, mostly cruiser and below, caps rarely used, and DEFINITELY not a use for caps if you are just in the general militia channel. (You are more likely to have a spy alt get you in a trap for the opposing militia than have the cap used in a friendly fleet)

Do not join Gallente! Caldari will beat you too a pulp! That being said, if you are a masochist who has a David Vs Goliath complex.....

Did I mention the Federal Defense Union is recruiting?

If you want a corp that lets you do your own thing but has the odd small fleets (usually weekends) then send in an app.

We fly 95% Caldari ships and can give you good fits that are effective.

As Chatgris mentioned - Cruiser and below are the norm.

As far as capital ships. Lots of people have them but in FW use them as taxis to move our smaller ships around.

FW lowsec is good! Some of the best I've seen in a while. Fights everywhere, not too much fat git trees.

Don't bother, 90% of FW players are just cloaky/stabbed frigates farming missions and orbiting beacons

Is it lame?

Can be, if all you do is plex, and run.

Is it fun?

Since the Caldari took Agoze and Vey and the Galente took it back there has been alot of small group pvp fights in my area. The Maut pipe is getting closer to becoming vulnerable. If the Caldari made a strong push to take that pipe, and made a deal with the null sec Pilots in the area to the north, and gathered support from the Pirate corps things could get very interesting.

I'd say that with a very active corp, you can find all the action you want.

IMO FW low sec is a great place to be.

I prefer to not be in faction war, since I think being blue to so many makes it harder to find fights. CCP removed gcc! Sentrie guns only attack if you attack a neutral right on station or at a gate. And they stop after you warp off (at least until you attack someone at a gate or station again.) They don't keep firing at your for 15 minutes.

But if you are willing to sacrifice some pvp for lots of isk opportunities FW is a good choice.

I don't do much larger ship combat so I can't really say how much there is compared to earlier.

Make faction war occupancy pvp instead of pve https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=53815&#post53815
