I seriously can't wait any longer for skyrim to come out. I love eve, don't get me wrong, but I have been an elderscolls fan since before eve was created. This new installment looks purely amazing with some of the features.

Only 1 more week to go and all I want is to storm Bethesda HQ and take a copy by force! It actaully amazes me how much anticipation I have for this game.

No real reason to post this, I just needed to say something to help release some pent up excitement.

I'll wait for the reviews. Between being burned on SotS II, Skyrim being a console port, and Oblivion being a slightly-above-"meh" game with some (rare) good moments, I've become cynical towards the gaming industry's ability to deliver quality.

even better, stuff oblivion full of mods to make it look good. Skyrim should be fine, just wait a few days. Infact I want you to beat Morrowind from a new game in the time between now and Skyrim.

We can always hope, that they learned from their past mistakes and can now deliver a good, working game right from the start. Besides it won't take long before the small tweak mods hit the mod sites and you need to play the game first before you know what you want to mod about it, so there are no significant reasons delaying buying the game as long as you like the basic premise of it.

Cannot wait. Driving me nearly crazy. I have faith in Bethesdas ability, you cannot deny Oblivion was jaw-droppingly huge, I play my disks to death and didn't finish EVERYTHING.

Seriously. I want to hibernate for 1 week just to make it Nov 11th faster.

yea some of the the new things are just itching at me. Oblivion had one designer do all the dungeons, skyrim had 7. over 250 perks. Magic runes. crafting. some 150 dungeons. obviously dual wielding/casting. ARG

The new perks system looks awesome, and finally a crafting system! Dual wield spells are definitely a big selling point for me...

My friends and I are having a release party. Yeah, we're that cool. Big smile

A short 3 hour preview of things to come for those who are interested. It's an enjoyable story on it's own and not a review, but gives some idea what we can expect from the actual gameplay.

I thought I was the only one who thought Oblivion was 'meh.' Compared to Morrowind and even Daggerfall, it seemed positively claustrophobic it was so small.

I put well over a hundred hours into each of those. Oblivion yielded maybe 50.

I remain cautiously optimistic about Skyrim...simply due to the dearth of alternatives.

Then, you did it wrong.
I've spent over 120h with oblivion (+shivering isles)

I think most would agree with me that the only way to play Oblivion right is with 100+ mods Lol

Last time I played Oblivion, it was completely open world, no loading screens between the outside and town, you could see everything far off in the distance, the textures were crisp, the enemies diverse and fun to fight... I could go on forever but it was a completely different game.

I never finished Oblivion, it was dragging too much. No mods though.

The thing that really killed it (for me) was the NPC skill + items upgrade keeping pace as you level up. End result was common bandits with high level items - dispatching them is tedious work. Leveling becomes almost pointless. Fail game mechanics from the player perspective. I recall they fixed that in some patches, but by that time, I wasn't really interested in running Oblivion.

On the subject of Skyrim, almost nobody seems to me raging about the fact it requires steam to run.
