I was playing some DUST with EVE running on my laptop and watching my DUST merc hack made me wonder why the our UI isn't three dimensional holographic. Our CQs have holograms for screens and the dock console.

When you lock a target you get a circle, formerly a square. Why not a holographic system? A blend of space Augmented Reality and Holograms?

Same for the Capacitor UI, make it a sphere and not a circle and have the weapons icons not only flash and cycle green but be animated in tandem with the ship weapons. Ammo being used and cycled, crystals being charged etc. Shield and armor resists resists be animated. Animated fire for thermal and lightning for EM

When you highlight a prop mod or anything not in a high slot it a white holographic line would link to the ship in space and highlight the part of your ship it affects.

With the new effects i've seen in Odyssey if this could be implemented it would look super slick and everyone can agree everyone likes more shiny!

I like this, yeah.

But as always, allow players to choose flat or 3-d displays.

If you're driven to threaten others with harm or violence because of what they do in game, you can't separate fantasy from reality. That "griefer/thief" is probably more sane than you are. How screwed up is that?

Well, that sounds like a great way to melt graphics cards left right and centre, doesn't it.

Yes that's a good idea, like being able to switch between hangar and CQ.

No it won't. The UI needs a major overhaul to lose that spreadsheet feeling.

the UI can be made to look nicer but there is the issue of how to display the masses of information that a player currently has access to.

Part of the reason is EVE is so good is because of it's depth, if it means losing some of the that so we can have a better looking UI, it isn't necessarily a good step

Top of my UI wishlist: Right-Click a pilot on watch list --> Assist drones.

Bottom of my UI wishlist: being distracted by prancing lightning bolt animations while in a fight.

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Agree with this. In many ways, I feel that simply setting a standard for window options would help.

- Allow each window to be docked to a side of the screen.
- Give each window 'auto-hide' functionality if it has been docked.
- Allow customizable transparency options for each window.
- Allow each window to be able to be made 'seamless'. Essentially, removing the spreadsheet-esque borders and allowing the text to float in space if you have a transparent background.

And to the comment on right-clicking and future radial options: if I have the option in one window, allow me the option in all windows, or streamline to a contextual right click all the way. Right now it's convoluted because sometimes you can do everything, like corporate and contact management, and other things you can only do in the right windows, like assign drones or put in watch list.

If you're driven to threaten others with harm or violence because of what they do in game, you can't separate fantasy from reality. That "griefer/thief" is probably more sane than you are. How screwed up is that?
