Newbie: Starting off in Logistic Ships

So I'm relatively new to eve (been playing for about 3 weeks) and wanted to start doing logistics. So far I've been training mainly mining skills to the point where I'm just mining to get enough money to buy a retriever. One of my friends have been playing for quite a while and I eventually wanted to do PvE with him by healing him since i've always liked being in a support role. Neither him nor I know much about logistic ships so I've been looking into it online. He's armor tanked so I was looking into starting off in a Navitas.

The problem is that I was trying to fit a Navitas with the "Logi 101" fit found on the EveUni Wiki (http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Navitas) in EFT and even with all Level 5 skills, the capacitor was unstable and lasted 2m 21s with the AB turned off unlike what it said in the notes ("3 min with everything running, stable without the AB").

My question was whether this fit was wrong or whether it is just not possible to be cap stable when having more than 1 small remote armor repair system I running at the same time. If someone could point me to a fit that could get me started into logistics, that would be appreciated.

If im going to be brutally honest: rush cruiser logi instead of trying to make a logi frig work. They are useful in only VERY few situations.

But you're getting weird results, I just popped EFT up and with all 5s I can get a 3 repper stable with AB on with just 2 cap rechargers and 1 ccc.

are you sure you didn't put a mwd on or maybe using tech 2 reppers?

[Navitas, logi]
Damage Control II
200mm Reinforced Steel Plates II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II

1MN Afterburner II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II

Small Remote Armor Repair System II
Small Remote Armor Repair System II
Small Remote Armor Repair System II

Small Capacitor Control Circuit I
Small Anti-Explosive Pump I
Small Trimark Armor Pump I

that's the random fit i just made. Stable at 44% with everything running.

If he's doing level 4 missions in an armor setup, he will love having an augoror buddy - and to be honest, it's probably the quickest and most efficient way for a new player to actually be helpful in L4s.

This is how it would look at All V:

[Augoror, Solo Assistance]
Medium Armor Repairer II
Medium Armor Repairer II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Reactive Armor Hardener
Capacitor Power Relay II

10MN Afterburner II
Large Capacitor Battery II
Cap Recharger II

Small Remote Armor Repair System II
Small Remote Armor Repair System II
Small Remote Armor Repair System II
Small Remote Armor Repair System II
Small Remote Armor Repair System II

Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

Cap Stable with everything running, will probably tank stage aggro in even the nastiest L4, and will also tank your buddy quzite efficiently, enabling him to drop all local tank (and capmods) but 2 or 3 hardeners. Frees up lowslots for damagemods, and medslots for damage application.

Of course, this thing will not even nearly run stable with your 3 week old character. However, depending on the ship your buddy is flying, he might have a free highslot to fit a large energy transfer, which will run stable for him as long as you put a medium energy transfer onto your augoror and project it onto him - because the energytransfer bonus on the augoror is rolebonused, it is skill independent and will boost the exact same amount, no matter if you have Amarr Cruiser I or V.

So, this leads to following setup:

[Augoror, Solo Assistance NoSkill]
Medium 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I
Medium 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I
Damage Control I
'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I
'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I

Experimental 10MN Afterburner I
Phase Switching Targeting Nexus
Phase Switching Targeting Nexus

Small 'Solace' Remote Bulwark Reconstruction
Small 'Solace' Remote Bulwark Reconstruction
Small 'Solace' Remote Bulwark Reconstruction
Small 'Solace' Remote Bulwark Reconstruction
Medium 'Regard' Power Projector

Medium Remote Repair Augmentor I
Medium Remote Repair Augmentor I
Medium Remote Repair Augmentor I

Believe it or not, at 0 skills (Zero, ABSOLUTELY ZERO, less than a new toon has!) this thing will last for 6 minutes and 38 seconds, provided your buddy gives you a Large Energy Transfer Array II in.
So with Amarr Cruiser at III, it will be stable. The key to success here is: orbit him at 2000 meters, give him tracking links tailored to his desires (no script, optimal script or tracking script), rep him, cycle your reppers, and use your 4 drones you can fit to try and kill frigates.

Note: Yes, there are adaptive nano PLATINGS in, because the meta 4 variant of them is actually better than the Meta 4 variant of energized adaptive nano membranes. True story.

This fit is a sweet setup! Though you shouldn't need to run all the remote reppers at the same time as all of the local reppers - so fit 2 or 3 medium remote reppers (no skills fits 2) since it will make your remote tank stronger. If neither of you are used to cap chains though I would first fit a medium capacitor booster in a mid slot with cap booster 400 charges as it gives you a way to keep up cap if you manage to cap out and end the chain or get out of range. The advantage of this is your lvl 4 buddy can reduce his tank and fit more damage mods!

My first guess would be that you have not yet started training Energy Management or Energy Systems Operation - both skills which will increase your capacitor life and probably skills which the fit you're looking at assumes at [5].

Given that, and given the razor edge frigate capacitors often run on, I too would suggest jumping ahead to a cruiser hull - the Exequeror if you intend to stick with Gallente or the Auguror if you don't mind cross training a little.

Use EveMon & EFT to see how far you are from flying a fitted Scythe or Exequror. The EveUni fits for these are pretty good. You'll be able to see in EFT if you are cap stable or not.

Both are designed to be cap stable. Being cruiser sized will let you run medium armor reppers (use the Arup/meta 3 - best value - people that use Solace modules are space rich), which can make all the difference.

Good luck.

Here is the fits we use for new pilots:
