Suicide bomb module

Why can't we suicide bomb? This would be a module or a charge that resulted in massive AoE damage (or other effect) but destroyed your own ship. And optionally, your pod.

Think of it as a smart bomb on steroids but with a high price tag. It could be a very useful tactically.

I found some old references to the Hellfire smart bomb - was this ever implemented?

How rude. Big smile I will say it because it is true. I actually meant to say in the OP that it should be limited to low/null/WH in a similar way to how bombs are excluded from empire.

I would definitely want this in lowsec though.

OP should look into Bombs and Stealth Bombers which can launch them.

Step 1: Fit a bomb launcher (and load it up with a bomb) and MWD to Stealth Bomber
Step 2: Find a group of targets.
Step 3: Warp to the group of targets at 30km.
Step 4: Align your ship towards the group
Step 5: Deploy bomb and activate your MWD.

Congrats... you are now a suicidal bomber. Pray that some of the frigates in the group panic and activate THEIR MWD. They will explode. Failing that... you'll take off their shields and shave a fair bit of the armor in one blow.

Alternatively... look into proper bombing tactics. A well trained and skilled group of 5 or 6 Stealth Bombers can nuke a hundred man battleship gang in under 15 seconds.

OP is well aware of SBs and their bombs. Furthermore, I am ashamed to admit that they are usually suicide craft in my hands.

I was thinking of something with even more damage but hugely expensive and with a deliberately terminal result. A defensive weapon of last resort.

So you need a module capable of dealing battleship fleet worth of damage?
That totally doesn't sound op and wouldn't be abused. Yea right...

Bombs are fine and they practically are suicide bombers already, maybe you haven't seen what even a small gang of them is capable of...

Maybe if the damage was relative to the value of the pod being destroyed. That would be ridiculous/glorious/an epic isk sink.

I've had a similar idea, though not a serious one.

Basically, it would be a module, that after a long(ish) cycle will detonate a special type of bomb that you will have in your cargo.

More bombs = more damage and AoE. 4 types of bombs, 1 for each damage type.

Could only be used in 0.0


Now people could turn their industrials into flying nukes and run into gatecamps, or make small fleets of them and fly straight into enemy formations.
