I used to have this problem. Do you have a Belkin router/modem? I had to change mine before it worked ok.

Had this problem.

The fix that worked for me was changing my NIC driver.

Good luck.

Okay, I'm going to bite on this one:

What exactly do you expect CCP to do?

What everyone who has these issues expects CCP to do is make Eve less sensitive to internet issues. We all know its possible because other games are not so sensitive.

"If architects built buildings the way programmers wrote code, one woodpecker would destroy civilization."

And that is what CCP has done. They have written client and server code that cannot deal with problems. We want them to write proper code, just like other game writers.

Okay, I can see your point - but the facts do not fully support it; only few people suffer from this problem, and judging from the answers here, it has mostly been fixed by changing the ISP/altering connection settings, not patches on CCP's side.

Sadly I can not comment on the quality of the underlying network code; but none of my friends ever had connection issues.
CCP should, however, really think about specifying the error messages, if it is as easy as you said...

You can't possibly make assertions about the sensitivity of other games without knowing what the underlying network problem is.

All you know is that it doesn't happen with other games. To resume the previous analogy, now our car manufacturer should make their car less sensitive to washed out bridges, and you know this is possible because you don't have this problem while driving your other car to other places.

I get this problem now and then. It seems to happen as I'm travelling through several stargates while reading/posting on the furums with the in-game browser.

That or recent solar flare activity is disrupting my internet connection... no that I'm weird or anything.

I'm Naomi Hale and this is my favourite thread on the forums.

A 1.5mb connection is more than enough to run Eve just fine. 10mb is way overkill actually. The problem isn't the size of the pipe (for this game), it's the latency/ping. When you upgraded, some unknown latency/ping issue was corrected. If you had another computer running an unthrottled bit torrent at the same time you were playing, that can cause your latency to spike so upgrading resolved that bottleneck. But just running Eve should be no issue on a 1.5 or 10mb.

To give the OP an example, I see this issue when using a wireless modem but don't experience it on my home cable connection.

If you're on wireless 4g, go to wifi. If you're running wifi, go to hardwired. If you're running hardwired, do a ping test/trace route. If the problem is on the first hop, call your ISP and complain.

This issue isn't on CCP's side.
