I have been searching and trying things just like you, being a bit wondering what the best option would be. It really depends on your skills and what you want to do with it. You can go all-out combat or build an exploration boat (probably good to prepare for Odyssey).

Here are two fits that I built (inspired by other fits I found on the net), for myself, so you should probably adapt them to your skillset.

Notes:
The explorer fit is probably the best, because it really gives a big boost to your drones AND it can do all the exploration.
The other fit is a passive shield tanked fit, which does a bit more damage.

Gneiss has no fitting slots, bad troll.

Any suggestions for a new amarr pilot for a gnosis fit? Looking to run some missions with it.

Probe launcher. Use the bonus.

This is the best choice of a missile/drone/shields user in the BC class for exploration. (( It's the only choice ))

It can work as good as a Tengu. You just have to fit it like one. This means you pay for faction mods!
This BC cost the way a Navy BC would. It's best to faction fit expensive ships. (( This does not mean use complex stuff! ))

If you were to use this ship for any other setup that already has a normal T1 battle cruiser that can do the same job this ship is not worth using. Even a drake will out preform this ship for any non-exploration task if all related skills are maxed. We finally got a BC for the exploration gurrista pilot. Yay!

Why is that?

It is a decent ship, lots of bonuses, and fills the role of exploration ship for low SP characters. The price is also cheap enough to where you aren't going to get ganked just for flying it.

Browser In-game, go to fitting & select one module & BAM! Item info appearing, just click market details & buy it. Fast & simple!

Is there a corp out there that is maintaining that great website & fitting info?
