This is my 2nd day back after 2 year break. I bought some skill books which turned out to be in .4 space which i got a little nervous about. I told myself not to be a pansy it will probably be fine. I cant just leave those skill books sitting there. Well i got jumped by several players and lost my caracal with fancy sounding equipment.

That really jogged my memory about losing a ship the exact same way back when i played before. Gonna stay in hi sec for near future as i figure things out.

I was given a gnosis gift i believe for the 10 yr anniversary. Im asking for inout how to kit it out for pve missions.

Also when i got jumped I couldnt warp. There were several icons so who knows what i could or couldnt do besides warp but thats one thing i can be sure of. How do people go thru low sec without dying? How should i kit the gnosis for surviving just the journey let alone fighting.

Or should i instead take a cheap ship in which case which one with what gear?

Don't fly the Gnosis yet. You will lose it.

If you need to go out to losec but you don't want to fight, go for a fast aligning ship. Don't carry expensive stuff, don't go with lots of implants.

If it's only skills you need to get, you can inject them right on station.

Train infomorph psychology. Get jump clone(s) (there are players run services available for this) to use in lowsec. Don't put implants on them.

Start off by running gates in a shuttle or a frigate fit for agility and speed, basically anything aligning fast. Train for and fit a simple cloak. Get used to making safespots, instant undock and docking bookmarks in systems you visit regularly.

Learn about the mwd cloak/trick.

You will loose some ships and pods in the learning process, but you'll get used to lowsec and keep the losses low if you do it right.

Edit: typos fixed.

Edit: Also have your first like for not crying about how bad EVE is to newbies Blink

Remove standings and insurance.

not really. Gnosii felt to about 100million already. It's not something to be ganked in.

1) can you tell me how to use safespots? what is that?

2) what is instant undock/dock bookmarks?

3) can you teach me about the mwd cloak trick?

Yea you definitely need to catch up on a few things. You can drop me a eve mail with your major questions/confusions and I can help get you up to speed about most of the major changes that would apply to what your goals are. Big smile

a safe spot is a "bookmark" you make in an area that you will be using alot, basically fly for a really long time in a direction and bookmark that area, using the menus. THen you will be able to warp there under duress, and it will be difficult for people to easily and quickly follow you.

warp out locations can be made by undocking and flying in a straight line away from the station 200km or so, that way when you undock you can immediately start warping and have little align time, since you will come out of undock in the same direction each time. Remember that you must be 150 km away from something stable (bookmark, moon, star, planet, station, acceleration gate) to warp to it, so you wanna make your bookmark at least 155km away from the station, and some variance is good in case the pk has similar thoughts on catching folks.

The mwd/cloak trick is just a mechanic function of popping the mwd, turning it off, and cloaking. You will have to play around with it. Cloaked, your ship has a penalty to movement, so you burn your MWD, turn if off and as it cycles prepare to cloak, you will be at a high speed when cloaked and won't be as easily caught. when something comes within 2k of your ship, however, you will decloak, so its not a cure all.

if you need to nab stuff from low sec, i suggest equipping warp stabilizers in your low slots, this will allow you to warp through several points of warp blocking tackle, and that will save you very often from gate camps. Not always, but its a prolly the safest way i have found. Quick aligning ships are nice, also, if they can target you, their volley might still vaporize you before you can warp, but mostly warp stabs are a nice way to avoid death as you roam around. Bear in mind ther are penalties for fitting warp stabs and cloaks.

Honestly, your best bet is to find and join a good newbie-friendly player corp and surround yourself with people who can teach you these things. It is an MMO after all :)

Easy to get into, easy to turn into a gate-runner. Relatively cheap, and moves like a scalded cat. Failing that, get a Venture. Ventures make awesome T1 Interceptors, are inexpensive, and can also get up an' boogie with relatively small SP input.

Scream out to where your skill books are, inject the skills if possible - If you can inject *all* the skills, you may as well take the 'pod express' home. Otherwise, run back.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Easiest way to go through lowsec is in a shuttle or capsule. I recommend shuttle but either one is generally acceptable. They both align to warp faster than your stargate cloak falls off. This means it is impossible for them to target lock you when you fly these and warp through lowsec from gate to gate.

They used warp disruptors or warp scramblers on you. If you fly anything slow through lowsec, fit warp core stabilizers to it. And don't try this in nullsec because they'll use warp disrupt bubbles on you.

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."
