Solid idea to add to that allow your chat channel to blink when key words or certain names/phrases were said

Did you actually get the point of this thread? This has nothing to do with colored chat. It's about chat hilighting/notification.

And multiple tabbar for stacked windows. We have too many chats stacked usually, quite often the individual channels' name can't even be distiguished.

I don't understand why this kind of change would take so long to implement. This is a very useful feature in IRC chat, i can think many reasons where this feature would be embraced. ie flagging FC, flagging of war targets using intel channel, knowing when people are asking for your attention, etc.

This was brought up on a few occasions at fanfest with devs and among them at the scandinavian round table where both CCP Soundwave and Seagull attended.
There were no objections at all from CCP, they even thought it was a good idea but there are no plans to implement it in the near future, mainly due to how the chat mechanics works and that it wouldn't be a good idea performance wise (wat?).

So, let's get more attention to this thread to make it happen! Share amongst your corps, alliances or what have you! :)

IT's GENIUS! +1 from me, even though I'm maybe in the minority for not having 10+ chat windows to deal with it would help.

And nearly no negative comments (apart form people who have CLEARLY played WoW).

I'm asking this a serious question btw, but what is the reason we cant have a proper implementation of a chat system, that can exist like IRC, so that even third parties can make a program like mIRC? Players could have all the power they want in making filters, capturing systems that grab information from Intel channels and stick them in charts, etc etc.

People already do many thing with outside programs, so why not try and keep as much as possible in-game?

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.
