no probably tech II/III production. Or a BPO copy/invention farm.. I know of a few C2 holes that are static HS static C1 that ar4e just massive industrial farms, even if they attract attention .. they log it all off in orca/carriers and gridning 20+ **** stars in sub caps is to painful for most to touch them.

Having lived in a just such a hole years ago I can tell you they are real isk makers. Sure they aren't a C5-6, but it's easy care free isk...

- Farm the C1 static every day. The nano ribbon drops are in a C1 are pretty good, and quick. (It wouldn't surprise me if this is a better isk maker than farming a single C3 long term.)
- Mine the ladars dry. (This sucks now but come summer the ABCs will be worth mining again also it will provide minerals for your capitals)
- Mine the gas (This isn't the money maker of the past, but ventures are cheap enough to afk mine)
- PI with 2-3 characters per account it's basically free isk
- Setup research POSes it's much cheaper than HS, and safer than LS
- Setup reaction POSes it's much cheaper than HS, and safer than LS

Also way people make it not worth evicting you is to drop a small POS on every moon so the attacker can't drop a staging POS without shooting up an offline tower. If they do evict you just power up all the small POSes for staging when you come back.

Where are they getting all the money for fuel?

These wormholes are owned/funded by the large c5/6 WH alliances. Their members set up in these for better small gang PvP and what not.

I remember running into a hole that had something like 29 large towers in it. I broke the golden rule of WH's and spoke in local to ask why/how they had so many. That was the answer I got.

C1 and C2 not a place for gaining profit in W-space (only if for training purpose), its strategical systems perfect for skirmish-raid-PvP. Especially c2, which is always have 2 static wormholes.
Open wormhole you want, raid into deep low or nullsecs (and if possible at other w-space systems as well), and get back. Especially well for raiding nullsecs, since you both dont need settle in it, with all those complexities about defending your null systems, and yet you dont need to worry about passing systems like HED-GP and other 'bottleneck' systems.
Same time risk of retaliation is minimal, its nearly impossible that someone will try to search you among those 2.5k W-space systems to make you pay for their losses, they will rather abandon that cause very soon.

So answer is - no, c2 doesn't pay for itself, neither should. Though its still possible to get enough money to pay for it, especially if one of static wormholes lead to c5 system.

There is so much to discover, just beneath the surface (C)
