Keeping a journal?

How many of you who have been long time members of New Eden wish you kept a journal of your successes and failures, of all kinds, in an online journal?

I'm considering starting one, as I'm a little past a week in. I've kept a RL journal since I was young, and am thinking that keeping an Eve journal will help in establishing my capsuleer's personality for roleplay.

Isn't that what blogs are good for?

Me, personally, I rather forget.

go for it. Lotsa people have blogs about their exploits in EVE.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I noticed that quite a few folks keep journals! Is there an updated list of journals somewhere(wiki?)?

Go for it. Some of the blogs ( a lot ) don't really set the bar high so you can't be worse than them! Best of luck on your journeys.

Ha! Care to share examples? (Feel free to send me a mail) I'm now curious where the bar is set.

I'm not really keeping a journal or blog but I have kept track of how many of each ship I've lost. And have saved the conversations I've had with people who blew me up after I had lost. I see it as a reminder of my mistakes I made and the tips pilots have given me to avoid making them again.

Do what I do - write badly but include lots of pretty pictures. People love it. Before long you will have hundreds of people hanging off your words. Click on my signature for an example.

I bad engrish, but I wanted to start a blog of pictures and screenshots I gathered as I roam around new eden. http://travelneweden.blogspot.com

Just start a blog and write when you can, about what you want. I do not expect huge audiences or anything, I just kind of want to chronicle all the screenshots I have taken, and still take, through my journey in eve while pewing stuff. I love the way this game looks so this seemed like a good idea.

Why read a blog about playing a game....when you could actually play it yourself....

sigh.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Because some of us have jobs, and (for example) we'd like to read about the game from the perspective of others while on break for lunch...

You could always use the forums as a blog if you want.

I thought about that, but am leaning more toward setting up an instance of [fill in your favorite blog software here] so that I can tinker with the layout, etc.

Go for it. I wish I had of kept a journal, even in meatspace. It is always interesting to see another persons perspective and story in their own play experience. Keep it private for a bit and if you feel confident start a blog, that way you can include pictures.

I've kept a journal for a good portion of my life; I have somewhere around 23 journals. Not much of a blogger, but if it interests you, definitely do it. I think that's a great way to add to your experience playing Eve.

P.S. These are posts from a pirate; I haven't kept up with it, but I loved reading the first few pages of it...
(His writing style really appealed to me.)

Because, like everything in life, people have different interests. Who's to say that writing about a game he plays isn't part of the way he plays it? If he derives enjoyment out of it, then he's playing! Also, writing about things can give you a perspective you would not have otherwise; introspection is a great thing...rare in the human gene pool, sadly.
