I currently have a main which does mostly pirating etc and another toon on the account that does hauling etc. What I'm looking for is suggestions on a good isk maker for a possible second account.

Would it be best to have a mission runner (yawn), miner (yawn but can afk lol) or something like an explorer thanks for any suggestions.

Depends on what you think is "less" boring. Technically anything can make you money. Exploration and mission running are not passive income tho. If you want passive income manufacturing, trading, invention/research and mining(afk lol) are your best bet.

Yeah I've done the mission running thing and you can make decent money but it really is so god awful boring and time consuming especially solo which is why I'm looking at other possibilities I dont have much experience with the others.

Explorer is more time intensive, but far more interesting in my opinion. Otherwise you could skill him up in the market and play the markets to make isk.

If you can handle not being able to get to all areas of space (depends on where you haul) then faction warfare can make you good money as well.

that or explorer.
another option is a suicide ganker. after Odyssey you'll be able to fix your sec with a few clicks.

Fixing security status quickly does come with a cost but you can read about it.

This is one of the biggest blunders CCP has come up with in a while. Suicide ganking used to come with the high price of your sec status being mauled which makes you have to farm rats in low/null to raise it. Now you can just spend the isk you make on the gank to get it back to good standing.

Unacceptable imo.

As far as your next account... you could always train up freighters and join a hauling corp for AFK hauling, train industry/mining, train an explorer to search out empty WH's for resale, etc, etc.

No one can tell you what you are going to enjoy doing in the game. That is something you will have to figure out for yourself. If you are currently a pirate you most likely will not enjoy the whole industry side of the game. I know I've tried to get into industry many times (have a miner with exhumer 5, t2 crystals/mining drones, etc and have yet to mine a single rock of ore), but it is one of those things that I just don't really enjoy.

What's unacceptable about that?
And what makes low sec status a "high price"?

A second account is less about ISK and more about play style. It's a Plex a month or 500 mill a month. I don't think a second account is going to make you 6 billion in its first year. You could if you were to make it a Null sec farm toon but if you had access to Null sec farming you wouldn't be here asking.

If you actually watched and paid attention to the fanfest presentation where this was announced, you'd know that you're talking total bullshit.

Basically, you're assuming that collecting / buying these tags will be easier than grinding sec status the old way - you're wrong. A main design goal for this feature was to ensure that the same amount of work was done to grind up sec status, but allow some method of buying or selling this work - basically collecting all the tags to go from -10 to 0 is designed to take about as much time as grinding would, and as a result the tags are going to be pretty damn expensive.

Also, if you had to spend all the ISK you made ganking someone just to enter highsec again, that would be a net zero at best - how is that such a travesty?

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

if you need to ask what you need a 2nd account for then you don't need a 2nd account
