I'm /considering/ making a ransom clearing house (After appropriate bits of CREST are released, as the API delay would be unworkable), and I was wondering if anyone here would even consider using such.

You have a vic*cough*Customer locked up and down.
You send them a link to the site, with a demand for 'X' isk. In return, you won't blow them up.
They send ISK to a third party (An alt of mine)
I take a 1-5% cut (You can pass that on to your customer, of course Big smile)
You get notification this has happened and is enough.
You then let them go.
You, after a short delay, maybe a couple of hours, get the ISK you're due. (To prevent the 'they pay. you hold them till the timer expires, get the isk, then blow them up anyway. Unless you're really dedicated. Twisted)

This is all for 'reputation'. Because if you blow them up before that time expires, they can post the killmail, and get their ISK (minus my fee, of course) back.

With a history on the site, showing if you've honoured the ransom in the past.

Sound good? Or should I toss the idea?

There's zero reason to outsource ransoming, especially when you're just as likely to scam the aggressor out of their ISK.

Besides, the best way to ransom is to blow up the dumbass after he pays.

I don't see any reputable pirate outfit using that service. They all make isk off ransoms based on their own reputation and don't need to add the hassle/time it would require to use a third party. Besides if they don't trust you you'll get the km anyways. Pirate

Dead men can't pay.
