I respect anyone who is willing to stay and fight to the death during a fight and not bug out. Its situations like this that a "gf" in local is actually justified.

Its also nice to be commended for doing just that. One day i will be on the damn winning side! Cool

I respect people who decide (foolishly) to leave the game and give me all their stuff.

Can i have your stuff?

That's off the top of my head, there are many, many more.

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

There was a newbie in Rookie chat yesterday who decided to take a trip into Goon - held nullsec in a noobship to see if he lived. "Because it's fun and I've read much about the Goons". Ended up regaling the chat with tales of his travels there. There was another newbie who decided that he would take a chance and head out to lowsec to mine in his Venture, despite a couple of other players telling him about the big bad gankers there. He asked a while later if the average price on Zydrine was accurate, as he couldn't believe he had that much ISK value in his hangar. After confirming it for him, much rejoicing was had.

Good attitudes, both of them. Researched the game and realized what they were in for, and had fun with it. The kind of players that deserve respect, regardless of age.

Then, of course, you get the multitude of others exclaiming at all the bad, bad sociopaths in the game.

Before you ask, this is not a post about how i lost a ship or got ganked by a person who has been playing longer.

This is actually a post about asking Eve players what they truly respect or admire.

This could be a game feature, another player or alliance or corp, or just what makes you shake in fear.

Let me know.

Three things; Intelligence, Determination and Respectfulness.

Intelligence rues the day on Eve. If your smart and determined, then your good. It's as simple as that. As for respectfulness, I don't mean "not blowing up peeps", I mean being respectful about it. When I blow someone up and they start to rage in local I open up a chat and help them understand why they died and how they can avoid it in future. You can be the greatest Internet Spaceship tyrant in the universe without being a **** about it.

Nothing.

You cannot generalize respect. It is an individual thing.

And you have to earn it over and over again.

And you may lose it from one person when you do something that will gain it from another.

And you can demand it, but that usually only means that you don't deserve it.

Respect. It's complicated.

My Corp got a wardec from a lowsec 'professional' pirate Corp. During and after I watched their killboards and tracked what their pilots were doing (trying to understand)... and where they were hunting. One pilot stood out above the rest: positive security status and killing highsec mission runners and such. Averaging six kills a day and rarely losing more than a couple of ships a month. Killing faction, pirate and tech 2 ships left and right.

This player knows the game. This player knows the combat system and mechanics. While I have no interest in being a pirate, I respect that knowledge. Knowledge this player worked to obtain.
