Stuck on Balancing the Books - mission 2

Here's another one. Accepted the mission from Hakkaras Ihora and undocked. Right clicked on an unoccupied area to access the 'warp to' menu per Aura's tutorial in order to access the acceleration gate. Trouble is, there's nothing to warp to. Both destinations shown in the mission dropdown show the station. No acceleration gate, or destination that would lead me to one.

Bug or feature?

First, confirm if you accept the mission already
then , check mission system ,it would be one jump away

Is that the one where you have to salvage a black box with the Civilian Salvager?

If I remember correctly, the objective of this mission is in a different solar system, so you'll have to plot a route and jump through (several?) gates before you can "warp to" the objective.

Yes, that's the one. The route plotting part of this mission wasn't clear. The instructions from Aura were to warp to an accel gate and go from there. I'll take a closer look at the route to the target system and see if I can connect that way. Thanks for the advice.

Sounds like you haven't accepted the mission. If the mission has been acceped it will be shown as such in your journal and a 'warp to' option will appear in the right click in space menu or the mission menu at top right-hand corner of the screen.

And that's the odd thing about this - the mission shows as accepted in the journal and in my conversation with the agent. All should be well, but..

Later on this evening, I'll have to see if I can get to a system that shows the accel gate. I've already blown the bonus reward, so I can take my time now.

If you click on the mission info in the top left of your screen you should be given an option to set the mission system as your destination.

Then just warp to the yellow gates until you arrive in the system then warp to the mission as normal

I have deliberately developed an air of cynicism that I originally intended to make me appear somewhat louche and caddish but actually comes across as irritable hostility combined with the unspoken threat of sudden violence.....

This.

Set destination.

Be Dorothy...follow the yellow bricked road.

Maybe the Wizard of Oz will be on the end.

Or not. And that goes for your little dog, too...

Ah. A simple game mechanic. Wasn't obvious to this newbie. Thanks for the help!

It seems that I wasn't talking via my arse at all.

I just happened to have a character only two jumps from a tutorial system, so I hopped over and signed up with the business agent. I can confirm that this mission is in the tutorial system. Only an acceleration gate is involved, so the mission menu and the right-click in space menu should show a 'warp to location' option. No jumps necessary.

Hmm, it might depend on the system - because I am pretty sure that when you do it for CAS, the mission is not the in the same system.

You could be right. I was under the impression that the tutorials followed the same pattern in each location, the only variable being the number of jumps in the out-of-system missions, but I've just read a walkthrough of the business tutorial in which the mission is described as being in another system.

I just did this mission. Had to manually jump to the destination system first (2 or 3 jumps). When I got to the system the right click on empty space provided the warp to option which took me to the gate.

I did find this mission confusing as a tutorial and spent a good portion of time trying to find the gate immediately after undocking.
