I recognize that it is very, star war, style, dark and light side, but if you could give the choice at the beginning, to be born in empire or null, in any of the pirates´s regions, could be a interesting choice, perhaps needing a special tutorial and several warnings, but I think would be a valid alternative.

Those born in null would quickly die in null.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

Says a Highsec Carebear. I went out to Null my second day in Eve and was just fine. I joined a decent Corp in a decent Alliance and had many great times out there. Did I die, yes, did I lose my PODs, no, was I screaming at the monitor every 5 min because yet another thing was blowing me up, HELL NO.

I 100% support this idea. It would help CCP in their approach to move more into Low/Null as starting there it would have less of a feeling of danger than those that start in the relative safety of 1.0 space. Half the time I was in Null it was more boring than mining Veldspar in 1.0 space in a noob ship lol.

If experienced players want to start new characters/accounts in low/null-sec I have no problem with that whatsoever. If brand-spanking new players want to do so I feel that there should be a warning message that lets them know, explicitly, what might be in store for them and forces them to do a yes/no answer before allowing them to create a "pirate" character.

If it's stupid for them to start in low/no-sec then so be it, just so long as they do so with informed consent it's all good to me. Pirate

Either ccp would have to protect these null/owsec starter systems, (thus rendering this whole suggestion kinda pointless) or like anything in eve, it'd get exploited to hell. Killboard padders would line up to camp these systems and pop everyone coming out of station for their first time.

If there was a way to make it so they started in a random station, then sure i think that'd be awesome.

After the patch we're giving the market some gentle supply restriction, like tying one wrist to the bedpost loosely with soft silk rope. Just enough to make things a bit more exciting for the market, not enough to make a safeword necessary.  -Fozzie

At which point, they could start a new character and immediately fly out to nul in their noob ship.

To the op: Pirates aren't other races, either. They're generally recruited/kidnapped from one of the empires. So besides the newb system idea another poster made, your left with choose the life of crime and moving out there like the rest of us.

Maybe ... allow new players, after character creation, the option to choose a new type of career agent who will teach them the 'dark side'. And then shuttle their butts out to nulsec through pirate gates or something. I have a sincere doubt, however, that many newer players would be ready for that kind of lifestyle in rat nul.

If you're driven to threaten others with harm or violence because of what they do in game, you can't separate fantasy from reality. That "griefer/thief" is probably more sane than you are. How screwed up is that?
