I want to do level 4 missions. But how?

Hi,
After playing a few months, I had to take a break and not I am back. I've been training meanwhile and now I want to farm some level 4 missions but I have some questions;

1) I can fly an apocalypse with t2 mega pulse lasers, but there are not many pve fittings for amarr ships, do they suck for PvE? I can consider crosstraining. I love caldari missle ships as much as amarr laser ships anyways.

2)I hear people talking about different empire spaces have different type of NPCs with different resist/damage types. Since I am going to grind reputation for a while to get L4 missions, which faction/agent shall I go for? (this may be a dumb question but I really don't know how this stuff works)
Thanks in advance.

This table tells you which rats deal what kind of damage, eve-survival has mission-specific details.

I don't know much about Amarr ships but basically you want to get your resists against the rat-specific damage types as high as possible and maybe choose a rat type that's weak to the damage type that your weapons deal.

Good luck!

Full T2 fitted Apoc is fine for missions. Specially in Amarr space where the rats are weak against EM/Therm damage (which happens to be the laser damage typesP)

As for fit:

Not a good fit but fit a tank specific for the mission (see links in previous post).

Armageddon Navy is pretty neat as well, I used to use an Abaddon but switched as it is more or less the same price and better dps with a flight of T2 sentries and room for some lights

post 13 in that thread, just use all T2 and change the mids to 100mn afterburner, Heavy Capacitor Booster II and 2 of whatever you prefer.

here is a baseline lvl4 apoc fit. it is pretty tight on both CPU and power grid, but you can downgrade some modules or change the rigs to make it work with your skills. also, most missions will not require an afterburner, so you can replace that with another trackng computer.

[Apocalypse]

[High Slots]
Mega Pulse Laser II - Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II - Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II - Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II - Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II - Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II - Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II - Scorch L
Mega Pulse Laser II - Scorch L

[Med Slots]
Experimental 100MN Afterburner I
Medium Brief Capacitor Overcharge I - Cap Booster 800
Tracking Computer II - Optimal Range Script
Tracking Computer II - Optimal Range Script

[Low Slots]
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Imperial Navy Large Armor Repairer
Armor EM Hardener II
Armor Thermic Hardener II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II

[Rigs]
Large Processor Overclocking Unit I
Large Processor Overclocking Unit I
Large Energy Locus Coordinator I

[Drones]
Hobgoblin II x 5

edit: obviously, this fit is meant to fly against sansha and blood raiders. you can switch the hardeners and fly against rogue drones and mercenaries, but i would not recommend trying it against gurista, serpentis or angels.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Thanks for your replies guys!

So Amarr space missions are good for laser damage, is it ok if I get my missions from any Amarr npc?

Do NOT grind L1s and L2 for corp standing, or for the occasional storyline to bump your faction standing! Do NOT do it.

Run the tutorials a couple times (can be run 3 times per race) to get faction standing.
Run the SOE epic arc then pick the race you want faction standing form.
Turn in tags to datacenters for the race you want faction standing with.
Run some COSMOS missions for the faction you want standing with.

WAY, WAY easier, more fun, faster, and less of a grind than running regular missions.

Oh, and when you get offered missions against another faction, like gallente or minmatar, decline those.

You quickly run down your standing to those other factions.

Just run drone missions and pirates factions.

if your goal is making ISK, you should look up how best to convert LP. not every corporation has a good LP store, thus not every agent is equally good.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Also try to find which corp has L4 agent(s) in 0.5-0.6 systems so when you will have standings to run L4s you can maximize rewards (both ISK and LP).

SoE epic arc:
http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/jowen/SOE_Epic_Arc_guide_by_Jowen_Datloran_v0.9.pdf

Works pretty well in a destroyer or cruiser, depending on your skills. You'll be sent all over the universe. Travel light. Run a couple missions in one location, then before you move to the next destination, reprocess/sell the stuff you get, move on.

The last couple missions, you get to decide which race you want to help. You then get a big boost to your faction standing toward that race.

COSMOS missions are special missions that each toon can only run one time. Instead of a tiny faction boost every 17 mission, you get a much bigger boost every 2-4 missions. Can really push up your faction standing quickly.

not trying to diss you but if you want to stay with EVE, you better learn to google.

I should buy an Ishtar.

I have no problem with reading lots of stuff, the problem is most information is old and I have no idea how outdated they are.
I found a guide about skill training, and after searching market for a few hours I learned that "learning" skill is removed from game :P
Thats why I asked for guides instead of "how do i do it?"

Also not to diss, because I completely understand what you're saying about outdated material, use the search filters and only go back 12-18 months to start. This helped me more than once.

point taken. some of the info is outdated and inaccurate. when i have to research stuff, i try and find a date on the site, but sometimes people will not even bother to put one there.

Yes. With any game 10+ years old you can waste an amazing amount of time reading outdated material.

Even the search button here on the forums can lead you to an amazing amount of frustration. Mostly because as soon as you find a post asking about the information you are looking for the answers all tell the OP to use the search button. /wrists.

Your best bet is to just ask whatever questions you have here in the new citizens forums. Yes you will get relentless thrashings telling you to use the search button etc. but eventually someone will answer your question and it will be up to date and accurate.

Guys, guides tell me to do datacenter quests at 0 standing, I found them in Amarr space but I cannot interact with them, tried to run 7-8 level 1 missions but still cannot talk with agents.

You sure you played for a couple a months before this? You seem more like some lazy ass who bought an account and now milks everyone for answers on easy questions he could just google.

Anyhow, join some newb friendly corp, plenty of them around and they will show you the robes. Beats soloing this game to boredom any day...
