I also note that there are no skill requirements... though obviously it would be nice to be able to use medium turrets/missiles...
A day old noob can jump into this ship.

However... its so damn slow, I thought perhaps this could change.... 7.5% velocity bones per level of Minmatar Battlecruiser -> gets is base speed up to a respectable 165 (206 with navigation 5)

Of course, Minatar BC is also the logical choice for the projectile bonus...

So if I were to change it, I'd add skill bonuses (but not prereqs?)

Minnie BC: 7.5% speed per level, 5% medium projectile per level
Caldari BS: 5% missile damage per level, 5% shield resist per level
Gallente: 5% hybrid damage per level, 10% drone damage and HP per level
Amarr: 5% laser damage per level, 5% armor resist per level

Then it would pwn... ie more speed and resists

I'm playing around with mine as an exploration boat for the time between now and when I can fly a Loki. A corp mate and I ran through a 4/10 site yesterday and came out with some shiny loot, so it's already done a decent job in that role.

I started out giving it a shot as a passive tank but quickly gave up on the idea when I had to warp out of a site twice to recharge my shields in station. Definitely not this ship's forte if you want to do any respectable DPS. I'm now rolling with an active shield tank to see how that works out. I'll probably toy with it a bit more before I settle on anything.

This ship's speed is downright awful. It moves like a typhoon. Being a primarily Minmatar pilot, it's quite a shock to only move at 339m/s with an afterburner on. Kiting is almost impossible without a MWD. Its slow speed is really the only thing I don't like about it.

All in all, I like this ship a lot and can look past the terrible speed due to it's incredible versatility. You can fit it up however you want. The resistances are all evenly balanced which is amazing for a long range cross-region exploration trek. Slapping a couple adaptive resistance mods on this thing lets you be ready for anything you could come across. I'm about two months from flying a loki (another month for the hull, plus a month for some more support skills) and I plan to fly this beast as my exploration ship until then. Or until it explodes. Whichever comes first.

This, and an armor/missile platform will be the more interesting uses imho.

Hmmm... I'm currently moving to another city right now so I've set battle cruisers 5 in the queue and not been able to log since last week. I won't be logging until next weekend. Have I totally missed out on all the freebies?

I think far too much of the Gnosis's DPS potential is in its drones. It's basically a drone boat that also gives you the ability to fit 6.25 effective turrets/launchers of your choice and a tank of your choice--as long as your tanking choice isn't passive shield regen, because it's not very effective at that.

So if you've ever said to yourself "man, I really wish I had a good solid drone/laser shield tanker at the BC size!" then it's a decent choice for you.

But if you don't have lots of skills in drones or don't like droneboats, the Gnosis will be underperforming for you.

I can think of at least 3 BCs that would do level 4s faster.

This ship has no requirements and is special edition for a reason: it's not meant to outclass anything already in the game.
