Well, seeing as how I manufacture Tempests, Brutixes, 'Canes, Hulks and Mackinaws......yes, I like to think that I am accomplishing something by griefing miners.

For cost effectiveness, I'd imagine a blaster Brutix would do wonders. Also, those new BCs will become the terror of asteroid belts.

I generally gank in alpha-Pests, because I like the instapop.

Now that I know exactly how Concord works, and how to manipulate their response time (thanks to Goonswarm Attention), you can use Tempests for a 2-fer, popping two Hulks side-by-side before they arrive - even in 0.7 systems.

How?
Well, with max skills + Overheating + hardwires you can get the 'Pest to cycle its battery of 1400MM arty in just a tick under 13 seconds.

That means *if Concord is spawning for the first time in that system* - the 1400MM arty won't reload until after Concord arrives in all high-sec systems except 0.5.

HOWEVER, if you 'summon' Concord in another part of the system by committing a GCC elsewhere, that adds SIX seconds to their response time. Result? Tempest gets to cycle its guns twice, and kill two Hulks for a single T1 hull, for twice the rage and twice the ISK efficiency, destroying 400-450M worth of Hulk at almost no cost.

Its a very effective way to hurt a rival industrial corp, or just to show miners who is boss. Where wardecs fail, suicide ganking delivers the pain. Twisted

For ages, I'd been popping Hulks, and never could figure out why there was such a large variable in their response times.

Usually showing up around 13 seconds, but occasionally taking nearly 20.

Now its easy to get nearly 20 seconds every time, and over 15 in 0.7 systems where there are lots of Exhumers mining in groups.

Always go for the double tap, especially if they are corpmates.

Effective Sec Status Repair in Highsec

I enjoy blowing up defenseless miners. A lot.
Nothing beats blasting a 200M+ Exhumer into scrap, while losing almost nothing in return thanks to T1-Insurance.
At night, I touch myself while I think of miners slaving for hours to buy a new Hulk [/b]

Although I personally only get my kicks out of ganking when it benefits my isk account (don't get me wrong, I've killed our made attempts at killing a few defenseless miners in my time) I find CCP's protection of miners frustrating. They essentially changed PI because it had little to no risk. However, running PI effectively meant moving to low/null/wh and risking your ship there. I've only ever mined as bait with a can, or for laughs trolling people, but high sec mining seems disturbingly low on risk, especially with recent changes to insurance.

I personally would like to see something implemented that would make it a bit harder on miners. After all, the rest of us in game are out there with our assorted gimmicks to make isk, and for the most part we have to put a fair amount of effort into it. Why should miners have the easy road?

Tldr: even though I don't actively participate in miner ganking, I think if CCP isn't going to police itself and add some challenge for all players, then the players themselves have every right to do so, in order to keep variety, fairness, and entertainment in our very serious game of internet spaceships.
