why no dislike/downvote on forum posts?

why can we only "like" or do nothing to forum posts?

eve forums are notorious (rightly so) for some of the most idiot posting in the history of the interwebs. we have a daily display of some of the most idiotic posts that could possibly be posted to a game forum. this begs for a dislike/downvote system.

please add the ability to dislike posts. thanks for doing that.

Like someone wouldn't go through every person they don't like and "downlike" them into a negative one-thousand. Show your displeasure by a nice, well-considered and functionally literate response to a post, like the rest of the universe has to.

that is because we hate our adversaries with such passion that it would be endless negative rep spamming contest just because who you are. i do know with my -481 negative reps on certain another forum. Lol (ok SOME posts might have been bad too) P

Because it just leads to the evolution of the classic zero-star monkey.

Down-voting makes sense if you're trying to create some kind of crowd-sourcing or “trending“ sorting of posted items. This is a discussion board, so you're dealing with a different kind of content. So instead, such a feature would instantly be seized by whatever political factions exist within the board and have nothing to do with the content of a post — they'd just be a marker of how many enemies the poster has.

An up-vote-only system means that the content of the post matters more, and having person-centred campaigns becomes less valuable.

Because this is Spacebook forums. You can only like something or express your dislike of it in words. The trick is to express your dislike in words that are not immediately deleted for being trolling or insulting.

You make a serious post (hehe), that you feel good about for once and you start getting a few likes.
This old rival of yours sees this thread and decides to ask his corp and alliance to go there and dislike.

Say something bad about a 1000 man Alliance and bam -400 on every post you made in the last 2 months. Enjoy being negative 40000 even if all you did was tell the truth. If you made over 100 posts in the forum overall 3 people who do not like you can go to your post history and tank your rating out of spite.

Down Vote will not help people to judge votes on content.

Really a down vote is up voting a post that disagree's with you.

there are down voting bots it wouldnt be hard to set it rampant across every single post eradicating any and every like anyone has received.

I agree.. And dislikes should not subtract from likes. There should be a counter for each.
