Gankerguide: Erasing sec-status penalties painlessly in Empire, erase one high-sec gank per hour!

Effective Sec Status Repair in Highsec

I enjoy blowing up defenseless miners. A lot.
Nothing beats blasting a 200M+ Exhumer into scrap, while losing almost nothing in return thanks to T1-Insurance.
At night, I touch myself while I think of miners slaving for hours to buy a new Hulk, and the fun I'll have tracking them down with locator agents and blowing it up again the next day.

Anyway, going to share with the ganking community the fastest way, anywhere, to keep your sec status sparkling while you tear ice-mining Mackinaws and Hulks to pieces.

After all, not all suicide-warfare experts are outlaws with perfect -10 status, jetting around in shuttles and pods in hisec.

As I handle a lot of trade in hi-sec, I prefer to keep my security rating above -2.0. So every gank requires a bit of repair work to avoid outlaw status, and I don't have time to go out to null sec to rat. But you don't need to - Empire is faster!

A successful gank in 0.5 space will usually set you back -0.3 security points.
This goes up in higher-sec space. (IE, in 0.7, its closer to -0.5 points)
Ratting a 'pirate faction' Battleship earns between +0.02-0.025 points, every 15 minutes. This means you will have to destroy a NPC battleship, every 15 minutes for 3-4 hours to earn back the penalty for a single gank. TOO LONG - but there are ways to speed this up quite a bit.

Myself, I can usually erase the penalty for a successful Hulk gank in less than an hour. Big smile(IE, +0.3-0.4 points of security status in one hour - in hisec space)

CHANGING SYSTEMS
The 15 minute timer is specific to the system you are in. If you kill rats in two different systems, your security status increases twice as fast. Three different systems? Three times as fast, and so on.

Its well known that you can earn sec status quickly by ratting in 0.0 (where the large NPC battleships roam in the asteroid fields). The bonus per battleship is the same, a player intent on ratting for security status can jump between multiple systems and get a sec bonus each time - limited only by jumping to new systems, gatecamps and the time it takes to find a suitable belt rat.

This is also possible in high-sec, via LVL 4 missions. If you run two Level 4 missions, side by side, in two systems you achieve the same effect (without wasting time hunting for rats in asteroid belts.) Of course, not all rats grant security bonuses: AVOID faction kill missions, drone missions, EOM missions.

CHANGING RACIAL RATS
Another multiplier: Killing two rats (in the same system) of two different factions grants you an additional timer, multiplying your gains as well.
IE, if you kill a Gurista, an Angel, and a Serpentis NPC within the same system, in 15 minutes, you will get THREE security increases every 15 minutes.

This actually is an advantage for hi-sec ratting, as NPC belt rats are distributed geographically - you won't find multiple races of NPCs in belts within one system.

SO, what does it mean?

My preferred method of 'speed status repair' involves:

Setting up (between my main and alt) 4 separate Level 4 missions, in two adjacent systems.

After clearing the frigates and cruisers, you can move between these systems 'harvesting' the Battleships at a rate of about 4 every 15 minutes, increasing my security status by 0.08 - 0.1 point each 15 minutes - or 0.3-0.4 an hour.

I like the 'The Blockade' (lots of Serp. high value BS, no gates) in two different systems, and 'Angel Extravaganza' or 'Pirate Invasion' (lots of Angel BS, few gates) in the same two systems. Recon (1/3) is pretty sweet too, but don't go through the gate, or the mission will complete - allow it to restock at down time.

AVOID: Faction kill missions, Drones, EOM, Worlds Collide (doesn't give bonus for some reason)

With multiple LVL 4 agents, turning down inappropriate missions, and intelligent farming (allowing the mission to reset at DT - for an entire week - rather than turning it in) - its surprisingly easy to set things up this way.

In 15 minutes:
Kill Serp BS, warp to Angel Mission.
Kill Angel BS, warp to gate, jump to next system, warp to 2nd Serp mission.
Kill Serp BS, warp to 2nd Angel Mission.
Kill Angel BS, warp to gate, return to first system. Rinse repeat, with +0.1 sec status, each repetition.

Don't have access to LVL 4 missions? Find a friend and get the bookmarks (which will be good for several days if nobody ends the mission)
OR scan down mission runners and shoot THEIR rats. You don't even have to kill them, just target paint them for a second at let the MR do the work.

Sad, 'running' missions for any reason, but I'm looking to get maximum ganking/hour. Roll

TLDR:
Ratting speed increases when you:
A) Change systems
B) Kill different 'races' of NPCs

You can erase a suicide gank penalty, in hi-sec, in a single hour.

This is suuuuch old news... Still proven effective though.

I will still keep my stealth bomber o' doom in null sec though, it moves pretty quick.

Oh, I know that this information is out there. Not claiming to know something others don't.

But with the Ice Interdiction underway, and high-sec warfare nerfed - figured it would be good to inform people who weren't already in the know about how to fix their sex status - if they are that way inclined. Suicide ganking whines are at a fever pitch, and I want to get more potential wannabe gankers into the game - blasting Exhumers more efficiently than ever. Big smile

Switching systems for a multiplier is common knowledge, but I am constantly surprised by how many people don't know about the 'racial' rat multiplier as well. Lots of people think they have to jump way out to the boonies to fix their status. They don't, quicker to stay in Empire if you can use LVL 4 agents.

Further, using missions in this way means the rats are in predictable locations.

Jump into each in succession, clear out the frigs and BCs, then harvest the Battleships one cycle at a time.
Invite friends to come with you, the bonuses scale. A gang can repair just as easily as an individual. You don't even all have to be there at the same time, just share the bookmarks for an entire week.

Lastly, bounty income for those living on a shoestring....!

Consequences for suicide ganking working as intended.

This thread would be a good place to mention the removal of insurance when killed by Concord.

We used similiar trick in lowsec when some of the members got accidentally -9.7 sec status in 10 sec.

We were doing some gate camping Smile and those unlucky members warped to mission and killed rat after every sec status tic.

It was not as efficient but they fixed their sec status in a week while they were mostly doing pvp.

Lol. Because coming up with this guide was super easy and took like 5 minutes to figure out I'm sure. Just another example of adaptation at it's finest.

Yet more reason why CCP needs to remove inusrance payouts from criminal activity and add fines instead.

Null-Sec needs to HTFU and stop crying to CCP. If null-sec wants PvP, they need to stop being carebears and start fighting eachother - after years of bot-mining, they have the ships!

Personally, I think a lot of people stay out of the ganking game because they either think they need a -10 alt, and can't afford to have their main as an outlaw.

But its stupidly easy to keep your sec status well north of outlaw status, unless you start podding left and right.

The only hang-up to this method is having LVL 4 agent access - and waiting for the right missions to appear.

So whenever I log in, I tend to talk to my agents, reject the worthless non-'pirate faction' missions (once every 4 hours) or the missions that are more than 1 jump away.

When Blockade, or one of the high-yield missions appears, I have up to a week to accept it.

I generally wait until the other nearby agents offer favorable missions as well, then accept all of them simultaneously.

Run the circuit each day, let the missions recharge at DT, and reap the benefits for an entire week. Usually you can harvest around 1 to 1.4 points of sec status without completing any of the missions.

Thats enough to absorb the destruction of FOUR Hulks in 0.5 or 0.6.
Also, its pretty easy to do on a separate client, so you can hunt for targets simultaneously with your alt. Big smile

The incidental bounty ISK earned is easily enough to cover the cost of new T1 Platinum insured hulls and fittings, so you aren't even out of pocket...

Excellent post.

I am sure when someone works out how to apply some kind of bravery status to gankers you will be one of the first nominated for a medal. Bravo.

This is certainly exciting news for the mining community. Sometimes I wonder why we bother.

It gets better. If you want to maximize your tears, try this:

Build some Hulks. (or buy/resell them)
When you notice they sell, record the name of the person who purchased them.
Use locator agents to track them down and pop them.

Bonus points if you pop the Hulk within 24 hours of purchase.
Bonus points if the pilot is 4-8 months old (and likely poor)
Bonus points if you strike up a convo with the victim via a 'neutral' third party scout, and find out exactly how much it hurt afterward.

I find that targeting and killing the same miner over and over maximizes the TEARS reaped per gank. Plenty of miners have no idea that locator agents even exist. Roll

This thread needs some Tippia to point out how easy miners have it compared to the arduous day to day routine of the oppressed suicide ganker.

Hmmm...do you like tearing the wings off of flies, stuffing socks over little kitties' heads, throwing puppies across the room?

I have this jacket that ties in the back that looks just like your size. It's a fashion statement, and all the rage.

If it enlightens just one new ganker.....
If it means just one more uninsurable Exhumer is instapopped...
If it means just one more miner quits the profession in rage....

it is worth it.
