One thing about EVE that would fascinate me is if we were able to see our ships next to each other in the hangar. A visual perspective of just how big these ships are side by side.

What would be even more awesome is if CCP made little work barges with people on them going to and from the ships while they are docked to mimic maintenance, provisioning and general realism. This would help us see just how big these ships are compared with the size of people.

Having played the game for about 8 years, i think this is one thing I would love to see.

I think there are many other players who have expressed a similar desire to see this kind of feature in the game.

Thanks again, the game keeps getting better and better.

support - but doubt it will happen

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

The current hangers in eve are ******* ********, no but seriously, they are ******* ********. They give no real sense of scale and ontop of that they are so unreasonable it massively breaks immersion...

In a space station designed to hold thousands of ships, interior volume would be a rather indispensable commodity. Things should look cramped and your star ship should be hooked up to some form of scafholding. Hovering over a magic donut is for mongoloids, nuff said.

Great idea

One of the keys to make this work well would be to also give players "camera freedom" what i mean by that is let us move the camera around more, zoom out further and in closer. Put all our ships side by side, puts tiny people close to the ship working on them but also very important is let the players move the camera in such a way to maximize this new, fabulous eye candy in the hangar.

Exactly, if CCP does something to give us a real perspective of how massive and complex these ships look side by side or next to people it will blow the doors off of the immersion value.

edited Screenshot of ships in the hangar
Ok, i tried to edit screenshots to show ships next to each other and the size difference. I know its really basic, the hope is to have this (far better looking) in the viewable hangar and you can see all your ships side by side , zooming and moving the camera so you can see them closeup or distant.

I think it would look really great seeing a bunch of ships in a line in your hangar like ships at dock and people walking along the dock, looking oh so small next to the ships :)

Exactly my thought. BS should be around 1 km long. I never ever had the feeling they are that big . Not in space, not in hangar, not from the models in general. largest feeling from a ship i get in captain quarters hangar look, but still, maybe 100m long feeling. And it's not just a feeling, it really is that way. It is 3d space and the scaling is just like that, in reality in 3d engine ship is maybe 50m away and 100m long, while you are on the balcony.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPeb547pis0 real sizes in 3d engine, completly different feeling

BTW, what are all those little lights on ships? In sci-fi movies they function as a window and give feeling to a viewer that oh look this part is 20 stories high, this ship is really big. If i am the only one on ship and in a pod, what are those windows ?

windows for your pod to stare into the void? the eve lore tells us, that there is crew onboard. even the "thanks for 10 years eve" video mentions 14 billion killed crewmembers

I would also love the idea of seeing all of my ships in a particular station in the hangar (would give a great size comparison) all at once, like a carousel or sorts. The only problem is that could work if you only have maybe 10 or fewer ships in said station, imagine the players who have dozens in one station, or even more.

The Operative: "There are a lot of innocent people being killed in the air right now".

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: "You have no idea how true that is".
