I find your lack of celebration disturbing.

I'm kind of stoked that the OT characters will be back in the new films.

I'm kind of a lot less stoked that Disney will apparently be basing a lot of the story on stuff taken from the novels.

Aside from the Heir to the Empire trilogy (and even that had a lot of flaws), the EU is... troubled. It's populated by the works of authors who, generally speaking, couldn't cut it in coming up with their own characters or fictional landscapes, and so had to borrow Lucas'.

Contrary to popular belief, world-building is actually one of the easiest elements of authoring fiction. It's populating those worlds with believable characters -- particularly ones that react naturally to outstanding or fantastical elements -- that's the true challenge.

How do Starwars fans deal with with all the terrible that has been released over the years in the name of the franchise?

(I like the original films and even a few of the games)

In hindsight my post should have had more psssshhhh

I actually like the prequels, flawed as they may be. I'm a sucker for over-the-top fight choreography, and even most of the actors pulled their **** together in RotS (not Portman, but she was completely miscast from the get-go).

I believe all 6 films opened on May 21 of their release years.

You've obviously never seen them if you can't see why May the Fourth is Star Wars Day.

Wrong.

Episode IV - May 25th
Episode V - May 21st
Episode VI - May 25th

Episode I - May 19th
Episode II - May 16th
Episode III - May 19th

Common misscinception is that Star Wars Day is the release day of the first film. However, fans decided that May the fourth (for obvious reasons) would be...

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

Disney will have a field day with Jar Jar Binks also if the Star Wars toys that are for sale in their parks are anything to go by then they will suck big time, best to keep hold of your vintage collection imho.
