This gal... this gal gets it.

Yes, with all the cruise ships breaking down and stranding thousands out to sea in conditions that only Guantanamo bay or a turkish prison can rival, I cant imagine any way that this idea could go horribly wrong.

Welcome to Fanfest Cruise! Heres your 5 gallon bucket. When its full, either throw it overboard or simply dump it in your room which will more than likely be filled 6 inches deep in the same contents anyways. What? You dont like to sleep in sleeping bags in a dark hallway and eat cold cheese sandwiches? This is Eve Fanfest cruise! HTFU!

Yeah. Sign me up.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Never saw a cruise ship that can hold 300k people .. you'd need something bigger than Noah's Ark

Build a bigger island? you know you could do it, just some controlled dynamite on those volcanoes, BOOM, instant landmass, heck you could make money off it, who wouldnt pay to come watch a volcano explode?

I'm pretty sure that the answer to this question is "The current residents of Iceland."

I didn't say "Minmatar" cruise ship, now did I ? If I had, you'd be perfectly justified in your concerns. Blink

300,000 want to go wont happen any time soon

3000 people might want to go, the price will keep rising untill only 1200 want to go and then they will sell that many tickets.

I dont think there is any bigger venue in Iceland than Harpa (and there was even talk of Harpa being demolished because it is too expensive to maintain and is unprofitable)

If it ever gets to 3-4 hundred thousand people, Reykjavik will slowly sink into the sea as the CCP staff all activate the rocket boosters on their solid gold AT-ST's and **** off to the moonbase they built with all the money they made from having 400k subscribers/ticket sales.

Except for CCP Guard.

I believe this was brought up at one point in a bar with CCP Unifex. Apparently the old venue, the Laugardalshöll has a significantly larger capacity than the Harpa main hall. I believe the issue there was that the ancillary rooms are significantly smaller, and Harpa is a much swankier overall venue.

Actually, I just looked at the plans for that. The old main hall (what was Tranquility) is actually around half the size of the other hall, around a quarter of which was used as the Party venue. The old Singularity wasn't much smaller than the Harpa's Multiplicity, and the old Multiplicity could function as a workable PvP arena. The Roundtables would still struggle for space, but the base idea is workable.

Still no way near as swanky as the Harpa, though.

All this talk of physical places. The only practical way Fanfest of that size can only be held in tranquility is via neural jacks. The problem with that is once we can do that our RL governments would crap themselves seeing it as them losing their grasp on power.

what will happen when 3-4 hundred thousand people want to buy tickets to cieland for fanfest, and CCP cant deliver? that would be sad.

there is probably little or no point to this point, so how about every body throws out design ideas for a CCP/EVE themed convention center capable of holding the equivalent of the icelandic population. remember to include a dark wing in a forgotten adn easily ignored part of the building to shove all the world of darkness plyers in.TwistedTwisted

Sorry, we couldn't possible have 300,000 visitors at fanfest. The island would sink. Please think of the puffins :(

Actually, adding another 300.000 people to Iceland would raise the population density to 6.2, or from 235:th most densely populated country to about 225:th ...

So the solution is simple.

To have 300.000 visitors to the party at the top of the world, have the party at Vattnajökull.

I know it's a cool place ;)

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.
